Time to pack and reflect on an excellent cruise. Considering I did the same ports last month, it was still very enjoyable and we found different things to do everywhere. We were able to watch the Wimbledon finals and as much World Cup as we wanted.

Last night we skipped the cocktail party to have an early meal and watch the match. Spain were by far the better team
As Donald Trump said to everyone of them "Good Job"

To mark the 5th Anniversary of this lovely ship, a pavlova desert in the shape of a 5.

Next cruise is back on Spirit of Discovery but then back here for the Grand Voyage to South America. So excited for the next 2 cruises!

Spirit of Adventure

Day 2 at sea for Spirit of Adventure heading to Dover. We are now in the Bay of Biscay. The sun is out, but there's quite a breeze. There are people by the pool, having lunch and listening to Bob Gessey on his guitar. He's very good.

I did 8 laps first thing and it became a bad hair day! Will have to sort it for tonight's formal night. We are in a quandary over whether to have the formal meal or watch the match.

This has been my 50th Saga cruise as a Destination Speaker, my first was just as I turned 50!

Thank you to Saga Cruises for so many special moments.

Today is the 5th anniversary of Spirit of Adventure. I didn't do to maiden voyage on here. But did do the second one. I think.

First of 3 sea days back to Dover.

Atlantic is rolling and we will enter Biscay around 5am tomorrow.

Did 8 laps of the deck this morning...it was sunny but breezy.
Attended a lecture on the Mediterranean diet at 2, then one about avoiding scammers. Both a good listen.

Overheard at lunch:
• Do you want wine, sir?
¤ Yes I'll have carbonara
• Do you mean Cabernet Sauvignon?
¤ That's what I said

Friday in Tangier on Spirit of Adventure

Last night we enjoyed the company of fellow speaker David Withington and his wife Christine for dinner.

Today the weather is a more manageable 28°...still very pleasant but easier for walking. I went ashore with a guest who was unsure of going alone. We met up with the Art Instructor and her friend, so the 4 of us had a lovely walk through the Medina and the Mendoubia Gardens.

We leave here at 5pm and then it's 3 sea days back to the UK.

Spirit of Adventure is in Motril today. As I went to Granada last month, we decided to go on the included tour to Almuñécar today. A coastal drive past Salobreña and La Herradura, with some impressive villas. Then a walk to the centre of Almuñécar and some free time.

Temperature has dropped to 32° now, so much better.
Our Spanish guide was excited that they have reached the final, and sympathised that England didn't. We watched the game in our cabin with drinks from Room Service.

After my gourmet recommendation yesterday, I am pleased to say that today was rather more traditional...blue cheese and walnut pappadelle ... bellisimo!

Sea day on Spirit of Adventure. The sun is out and it's very humid so thankfully lots of folk came to my Motril talk at 10.30.

I set my presentation up and then walked to the back of the Playhouse to see how it looked. Realised that the interesting sculpture was actually a litter bin! So I hastily changed the slide.

Lunch in the Grill. I love how you can mix and match what you love. For me today, it was pizza with Brussels sprouts! A new combination for me, and I commend it to you.

I have my final talk at 3.30, on Tangier. It's formal night tonight so no dance set. After dinner we will watch the match. Hope it's not too nerve-wracking

A steaming hot day in Alghero, Sardinia for Spirit of Adventure. The ship stays cool and makes us welcome when we return rather over-heated. Cold towels at the tender pier, iced drinks on tap, ice cream on board all helping us to cool down.

We had a wander through the old town, returning along the Bastions where there was a slight sea breeze.

As the tender drew to the ship, I spotted a dolphin!

Spent the afternoon processing my photos and updating the talks for the 4 ports thus far. New photos. New ideas. New observations. The talks keep evolving.

Mediterranean buffet tonight and a deck party

Then we will watch the match.
