In Memory of Derek Austen - Cockpit Challenge

In Memory of Derek Austen - Cockpit Challenge To raise money for the Pilgrims hospice as this is where my father spent his last days. I will be sitting in as many different aircraft cockpits In memory.

I have often wondered what I can do to raise some money for the Pilgrims hospice as this is where my father spent his last days. My father had a keen interest in aviation and in his passenger log book he had over a hundred entries of different aircraft he had flown in. It occurred to me that I could take him on a journey, not with me in body but in spirit and attempt to either fly in or sit in as

many aircraft cockpits. With your help, either by donating via the just giving page, sponsoring me per cockpit, I am looking to sit in at least 150. I shall log this journey over the next year through video and photo’s. I thank you in advance and look forward to taking you on an aviation journey in memory of my father. you can donate at www.justgiving.com/Simon-Austen3 or P.M. and I will add you to the sponsorship list. The challenge ends 31st July 2016

Hi all, I just wanted to once again put the link to my Cockpit Challenge 150 page, my second Cockpit challenge that I'm doing. If you haven't already liked or shared it here is the link https://www.facebook.com/Cockpitchallenge150/… you can also donate via the justgiving link that is on the Cockpit challenge 150 page. I am doing this for Cancer research UK. So please if you could spare anything for the challenge and charity I would be most grateful. Thank you to those who have already donated. I still have a long way to go with only 30 cockpits under my belt but hopefully things will speed up gaining a lot more cockpits very soon.

Raising money for Cancer Research UK In memory of my father

It was an absolute pleasure to show Dale and Alex around the airfield today. They had the winning bid for the Airfield tour that I auctioned back in January at the fundraiser.

I'd like to start by thanking everyone who donated to the challenge and the Pilgrims Hospice. To all those who took time out to allow me into the cockpits of the aircraft in the museums,at various airports where the flight crews of the aircraft. A special thank you to the RAF Manston History Museum where not only did they let me sit in their cockpits but allowed me to hold a fundraising evening there. I would also like to think that I made my father proud of what I achieved over the last year and who this challenge was in memory of. I have raised over a £1000 and know that some would be donating once the challenge had finished so look forward to increasing to the total. I didn't reach the target of 150 cockpits and didn't realise how time consuming and how much it would cost to get around all the places . I will however be starting another cockpit challenge in a couple of months in aid of Cancer Research UK to try and reach the 150 and plan things to be able to achieve this, so look out for the new page and the start of next challenge. Thank you again Simon
