Due to retirement, we are looking for Class 1 Driver

Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Hours: Monday to Friday – we don't work weekends!
Salary: £41,600 basic, with realistic total earnings of £46,000+

Needham Haulage is on the lookout for an experienced Class 1 driver to join our friendly team. If you know your way around general haulage work and you're comfortable with both flat and curtainside trailers, we'd love to hear from you.

What we're looking for:
• A full Class 1 licence with solid general haulage experience
• Confidence working with flat and curtainside trailers
• Sheeting experience is a big plus
• Happy to do nights out as part of a Monday to Friday routine

What you'll get:
• £41,600 salary, Monday to Friday - your weekends are your own!
• £1,200–£1,500 a year in additional load payments
• £26.00 per night for nights out
• Holiday pay calculated on full year earnings, including nights out and bonus
• Company pension
• Realistic total earnings of around £46,000

Well, Friday on the A1 was a right laugh... said absolutely nobody ever. 🚐💨

One of our drivers had a massive blowout, and as you can see from the lovely "Before" image, the tyre didn't just give up the ghost, it decided to take half the bodywork down with it. Proper carnage!

First things first, a massive shoutout to the driver for keeping it steady and getting it stopped safely. On a stretch like the A1, a blowout at speed is no joke, and it’s a stark reminder of why we obsess over vehicle safety and daily checks. Bodies and trucks can be repaired, people can't!

Once Attercliffe Tyres had sorted the fresh rubber and the truck crawled back to the yard, we looked at the mangled mudguard and wing and thought, "Nah, we can fix that ourselves." Cue a Saturday of brute force, a bit of head-scratching, and in all honesty a fair amount of swearing.

But look at the result! Not a bad effort, even if we do say so ourselves. There is honestly nothing better than rolling your sleeves up, getting stuck in, and realizing you don't always need to suffer paying a main dealer for bodywork. Proper proud of this turnaround, and she’s safe, sturdy, and back out on the road!
