Hale-A-Cab No Longer Trading.

24/07/2026

Good Evening

After nearly 14 years in the industry and after nearly 9 years running as a Sole Trader, I’m sadly announcing that as of today Hale-A-Cab has ceased trading.

I wish to say thank you to all the wonderful people who have supported me over the years. It’s been fun, most of the time!

Apologies, but it seems that hanging around on a piece of tarmac outside of an airport for up to 15 minutes has all of a sudden become 42.9% more expensive.

With the increase in fuel prices, thanks to the Orange Sh*tGibbon's warmongering from across the pond I'm unable to swallow this increase and it will be added to all Stansted fares from March 19th.

From 00:01 on 19 March 2026, charges for the Express Set Down area at London Stansted Airport will change:

£10 for stays up to 15 minutes
£28 for stays over 15 minutes (maximum stay 30 minutes)

The Express Set Down area is barrier-free, with easy payment online, by phone, or automatically via an AutoPay account. For more information: https://bit.ly/4hpq2rF

Free drop-off remains available in the Mid Stay Car Park. Find out more here: https://bit.ly/2CA9MVe

Pre-booked parking options are unchanged and continue to offer the best value for customers planning ahead. To see available parking options: https://bit.ly/2ACRsIn

UPDATE

So, my Wheelchair Accessible Taxi is still off the road but, I’ve just got off of a call with the garage that currently has my vehicle, they’ve given me an estimated date of January 25th.

This is not a repaired by date, this is the date that they have just been told by the supplier that the part needed to repair my car should arrive by!!!! The initial lead time was two weeks🤦‍♂️

If it does happen to arrive on that date it will have been 86 days since it was collected to be repaired. It will then take another 7/10 days for them to do the necessary stuff to it before I can get my car back.

It will then need to go for a plate test, MOT & service before I can start back accepting wheelchair jobs again!!

I had to ask, why it was taking so long?

The lady at the garage said, “They no longer make parts in bulk and everything has to be ordered on an individual basis as required and they come from abroad. Beacuse of all the red tape now implemented because of Brexit, this is now the norm.”

They have 29 cars in the garage and are waiting on parts for 23 of them for the exact same reason!!

Wonder why your insurance premiums are going up. There’s your answer!

A Quick Update

Unfortunately due to someone hitting my vehicle a few weeks ago I’m currently unable to take any bookings to transport people in Wheelchairs.

My vehicle is away at the insurers garage, scheduled to be repaired but there has been an ongoing delay on a vital part which means they still have it after nearly two months and I’m not holding out much hope of having it back before Christmas.

I have a replacement vehicle which can still seat 8 passengers but because of the different set up inside I can’t take wheelchairs at the moment.

As soon as I’m back on the road with my normal vehicle I will update you all.

Thanks again for all your continued support

Steve
