Some messages stop you in your tracks a little… 😳

I woke up to this beautiful message from a lovely customer and it meant the world to me. 😍 Shawn bought the Marni bag and Mabel wallet - a perfect pairing! 👌

“Hi! I just wanted to send you a personal thank-you because your work created one of those unexpectedly special little moments for me.

I was in Madison a couple weeks ago and saw a woman carrying one of your bags. It was striking enough that I kept thinking about it afterward, and eventually I tracked down your Etsy shop so I could order one for myself.

And honestly, part of what made me even more excited was discovering your shop was homegrown and independently crafted. There’s something really special about finding work that feels personal, artistic, and made by a real person with care behind it. That feeling comes through immediately when you see your bags.

Mine arrived and somehow exceeded the version I’d built up in my head. It’s beautiful, thoughtful, and feels deeply human in a way mass-produced things just don’t. You can absolutely feel the artistry and intention in it.

When you run a small business, most days are spent quietly working away behind the scenes doing admin, packing orders, replying to messages, designing new pieces and hoping people connect with what you create. Then every now and again, a message like this drops into your inbox and reminds you why you do it all. 🫶

Today is World Leather Day, which feels like my kind of day! 😁

As many of you know, I’m a big fan of natural fibres. Over the years, there’s been a decline in those beautiful fabrics and genuine leather products that once graced our High Streets. That decline has gathered pace.

I’m old enough to remember the days when shoes and handbags were made from leather – always.

Then came along “PU” (polyurethane)… then some marketing people gave it a bit of a glow-up with the term “faux leather” and more latterly, “vegan leather”. Call it what you wish, it’s all the same thing. Plastic. And plastic and leather are worlds apart.

I probably should have been talking about this more over the years when the slow creep started to happen but social media hasn’t always come naturally to me! (I’m working on that) 😁 So today feels like a good place to start.

For me, the reasons I love leather are simple…

• It smells divine 🤎
• It’s incredibly durable
• It can be repaired, revived and loved all over again
• It will last for many years, not just a season
• It ages beautifully, developing a patina that’s completely unique
• It’s a material that gets better the more you use it. Not worse

Just as importantly, I care deeply about how my bags are made.

The leather I use is chrome-free and dyed using natural oils and vegetable dyes. The family-run tannery I work with is REACH compliant and SA8000 certified, which means it meets strict European safety standards and ensures fair, ethical working conditions.

I just wanted to take a moment today to say thank you to everyone who has supported my business over the years, carried my bags, and come back for more … it truly means the world.

🎬 From Bristol to the Big Screen!

Over the past week or so, I've received a couple of messages from some customers saying they think they've spotted Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane wearing my Rowan backpack in the new Superman film!

First of all, I thought, surely not my bag? But one of my followers went full on detective and messaged me with a link to a Reel she'd found on the official Warner Bros Instagram account talking through a comparison of Lois' wardrobe in the 1978 Superman film (my era!) and the 2025 version, and there it was, at the end of the clip - my Rowan backpack!

As soon as I saw the floral lining fabric, I knew it was mine. That little pop of print I always line my bags with is unmistakable and instantly recognisable! 🌸

Over the years, I’ve sent the odd bit of leather off for a film or TV drama, but never in my wildest dreams did I think one of my bags would make it all the way to Hollywood - but there it is!

Honestly, could there be a better fit? Lois Lane, the world’s most iconic journalist, always on the move, with her notebook, recorder, and trusty bag at her side. What an honour. 🎤🗞️👜

☀️ Tan for the win ☀️

I've had the loveliest of days today - quietly sat at my desk, staying cool 😎, browsing my stunning new images from my last photoshoot with Chloe and Gaby. This shot was taken in Topsham, Devon - just mixing it up from our usual Clifton Village location - so happy with the results! 📷

I've got some gorgeous new designs, including the Finsbury dumpling bag seen here, made from THE most gorgeous, sumptuously soft, tan leather - perfect for the new season. 🌻☀

POV - tan is one of the most versatile leather colours – it works beautifully all year round, but really comes into its own in the Spring and Summer. It’s also one of the trickiest shades to get just right. Too orange, and it can look brash; too dark, and it loses that natural warmth. After lots of back and forth with my leather developers, I think we've nailed it! 🤞 ❤
