Petersham Road Closure ADVANCE WARNING

From tomorrow evening (Monday 23rd June 2025) until Friday morning (27th June 2025) NIGHTLY after 8pm until 5am ONLY, Petersham Road will be closed in both directions between The Dysart and Ham, Sandy Lane. Routes 65 and 371 will be severely disrupted as listed beneath.

Route 65/N65 will divert via Kingston Bridge, Strawberry Vale, Twickenham, Richmond Bridge and will resume its normal line of route in Richmond, George Street. Services towards Kingston will continue to serve Richmond Bus Station as normal before diverting via Richmond Bridge.

Route 371 will operate a split service either side of the closure, between Kingston and Ham, and Richmond and Petersham. These splits are detailed below.

Split 1:
Route 371 will leave Kingston as normal and will terminate at Ham, Clifford Road. This service will then turn right into Petersham Road and will return to Kingston via the 65 route (Richmond Road).

Split 2:
Route 371 will leave Kingston displaying either “65 Ham” or “Special Service” and will use the 65 normal line of route as far as Ham, Sandy Lane. This shuttle service will then turn left into Sandy and will then return to Kingston as a route 371 as normal.

Shuttle Services from Kingston aim to operate between every 15 and 20 minutes.

Split 3:
Route 371 will depart Richmond Sainsbury’s (Manor Circus) as normal and will observe normal line of route as far as Star & Garter Hill, where this service will then turn right into Petersham Road and terminate, before returning to Richmond Town Centre via the 65 route and then return to Richmond, Manor Circus.

Please be aware there will be no service on the normal “towards Richmond” side of Queens Road, Marchmont Road, Kings Road and Church Road. If you require Richmond from any of these stops, please wait for a 371 heading the opposite direction (towards Petersham), as this service will continue to Richmond via Petersham Road.

Due to roadworks on Ham Street junction with Ashburnham Road route 371 is diverted for safety reasons as the left turn is to narrow.

Route 371 is diverted towards Richmond only via Riverside Drive and buses will not serve Broughton Avenue, Ashburnham Road. All of the relevant bus stops have been hooded.

If you need to catch or get off your bus please use Dysart Avenue or Ham Street until further notice.

Sadly due to ongoing roadworks Route 371 is continuing to suffer from severe delays. These roadworks are in place until 8/11/21 and is expected to cause significant problems in all rush hours in the coming days.

Please allow lots of extra time for your journeys and please try to avoid travelling through Petersham if it can be helped.

I'm afraid to report that once again this afternoon panic buyers have taken to the petrol stations and are causing nothing but problems.

Route 371 is now operating with severe delays of up to 50 minutes at present and seem to be losing this mostly in Richmond (probably cause all the other petrol stations are now closed). There are a number of large gaps appearing in the service already so curtailments are to be expected as a result.

Please allow lots of extra time for your journeys this afternoon.

Sadly due to ongoing issues in and around petrol station forecourts due to ridiculous panic buying Route 371 is operating with severe delays of up to 60 minutes as a result.

Sadly buses are getting stuck on London Road coming out of Kingston and on the A316 leading up to Richmond Circus. Large gaps in the service are to be expected and curtailments are more than likely.

If travelling this evening please do so but with a significant amount of extra time.

Service Update

Due to the ongoing issues in and around petrol station forecourts at present route 371 is operating with severe delays and at times a very limited service. Buses are being curtailed in various locations across the route as a result and this is expected to continue as a result of people's stupid actions. Current delays are anticipated to be around 60 - 70 minutes.

If traveling this afternoon please allow lots of extra time for your journey and be prepared to wait a significant time. This is affect all routes across London, not just the 371's.

Due to a burst water main route 371 is not serving Kings Road northbound so towards Kingston.

Buses are diverting from Church Road, Right Friars Stile Road, left Richmond Hill, ahead Star & Garter hill to line of route.

This diversion is towards Kingston ONLY.
