Congratulations to Tiger Club members Nick Fairhead and his son Matt on winning a Pooleys International Dawn to Dusk Competition award!
In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, their challenge was to fly over 21 Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs), which were originally established to support the supply of troops and equipment for Operation Overlord. This was no easy task, as many of these ALGs have long since been reclaimed for agricultural use. However, thanks to careful planning, they successfully reached all of them.
To make the challenge even greater, they undertook the flight in one of the club’s vintage Tiger Moths, G-ASKP, which required two refuelling stops along the way.
