40 Years of Evolution – Built on the Same Principles

As we continue celebrating 40 years of Electronic Handling Ltd, it’s fascinating to look back at how our fleet has evolved over the decades.

While the trucks may look very different today, the fundamentals of how we specify our vehicles have remained remarkably consistent. From the very beginning, protecting our customers’ equipment has been the priority. That’s why our vehicles have always been fitted with full padded rails and load-lock systems along with full closure tail lifts and full air suspension to secure sensitive and valuable cargo during transit.

What has changed is the technology available to support that mission.

Our modern fleet now includes heated load compartments to maintain suitable transportation conditions for specialist equipment, alongside onboard load compartment cameras that allow drivers to monitor cargo throughout the journey without compromising safety.

It’s a great example of how we’ve embraced innovation whilst staying true to the standards that have defined EHL for four decades: care, reliability, and attention to detail.

The vehicles may have evolved, but our commitment to delivering equipment safely and professionally remains exactly the same.

🎉 40 Years of Electronic Handling Ltd 🎉

This month, Electronic Handling Ltd celebrates 40 years in business.

As we've been looking back through old photographs and memories, it's reminded us that EHL has always been about more than trucks, warehouses, and deliveries. It's about family, people, and the relationships we've built along the way.

From the early days, with Tony and Debbie standing proudly beside one of the original EHL trucks, to photos of a young Artie driving around in his toy EHL truck, this video captures some of the moments that have helped shape our story.

What began in 1986 as a family business has grown into a company trusted by customers across the healthcare, laboratory, and scientific sectors. Yet despite how much has changed over four decades, the values that built EHL remain exactly the same: hard work, honesty, teamwork, and always going the extra mile.

Every vehicle we've driven, every warehouse we've worked from, every customer we've supported, and every member of the team who has worn the EHL name has played a part in getting us to this milestone.

Throughout June, we'll be sharing more historic photographs, videos, stories, and memories from the EHL archives. From old vehicles and warehouse moves to the people and moments that have defined our journey, we look forward to taking a trip down memory lane and celebrating the history that has made us who we are today.

To our employees, customers, suppliers, friends, and family – thank you for being part of the story.

From the Highlands to the hospital floor — this week one of our specialist Luton vans made the journey up to Inverness.

Our driver said it was one of the most beautiful routes he’s ever driven, so he couldn’t resist getting the drone up for a few shots along the way.

Another challenge completed by the team at Electronic Handling Ltd 👏

For this delivery, the only access to the machine’s point of use was through a basement area — so the team designed and built a custom ramp system to safely manoeuvre the equipment into position.

Jobs like this take more than just transport. They require planning, teamwork, problem-solving, and the confidence to adapt on site to make sure the equipment arrives safely and efficiently.

A great effort from everyone involved and another example of the care and professionalism the team brings to every move. 💪

One of our 18-tonne trucks took on a proper adventure last week — heading all the way up to Shetland and Orkney to get the job done.

It’s easy to forget what goes into runs like this. Early starts, ferry crossings, tight schedules, and a lot of responsibility riding in the back. But for us, it’s just part of delivering the service our customers rely on.

No fuss, no shortcuts — just getting it there, wherever “there” happens to be.

Not every job here is glamorous… but they all matter.

Today was all about giving the warehouse floor a proper deep clean — one of those jobs that makes a bigger difference than people realise.

It keeps things safer, protects the equipment we handle, and just makes the place feel right to work in.

Katherine stepped up and took charge of the floor scrubber (as you’ll see in the video), and safe to say she’s set the standard pretty high now 👏

We take a lot of pride in what we do at EHL — and sometimes that starts from the ground up.

It must be ramp‑building season 🚧
Not every delivery comes with easy access, and on this job the loading bay simply couldn’t be reached by the trucks. So our team got to work, building a temporary ramp solution to overcome the challenge and keep the project moving.
The photos show us delivering medical equipment into a hospital laboratory, using a practical, hands‑on approach to adapt the site and make the move possible.
Great work by the Electronic Handling team for their teamwork, ingenuity, and commitment to finding solutions when access isn’t straightforward. These are the moments where experience really counts.

Episode 10 of The Arthur Diaries 🚜

Word got around that we had a forklift on site… so of course Arthur had to come and investigate what all the excitement was about 👀

Safety first, always. Arthur made sure everyone was wearing their PPE properly before any work got underway (future site manager in the making 👷‍♂️).

He even found himself the perfect viewing spot in the back of the car while the forklift was in motion — keeping a close eye on operations from a safe distance.

And when the team took a well-earned break, Arthur got his moment… sitting up in the forklift like he owned the place.

The best part? Having his dad and nanny on site too — three generations, all on one job. That’s what it’s all about.
