Still in the season of celebrating women..
I remembered when I first got the role of a Logistics Manager to manage 32 trucks with 36 drivers and 6 men has field managers.
It was intimidating at first but I did it anyways it was not easy I must confess but God was faithful. I experienced lots of backlashes, conspiracy and I am still standing (smiles).
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the progress women have made in various industries, and one area that deserves attention is logistics. Women in logistics have long faced challenges in a traditionally male-dominated field, yet they have continuously proven their resilience, innovation, and leadership.
“Accelerating Action for Women in Logistics” on International Women’s Day is a call to both celebrate these trailblazing women and highlight the need for further action. It’s about pushing for a future where women have equal access to opportunities, resources, and support in a sector that is critical to global trade, economies, and everyday life.
The logistics industry plays a pivotal role in supply chains worldwide, and ensuring gender equality can only strengthen its potential. However, barriers still exist, from unconscious biases to a lack of representation in leadership roles. Accelerating action involves not only empowering women through mentorship and education but also advocating for policies that foster inclusivity, work-life balance, and pay equity.
Women in logistics bring unique perspectives and diverse problem-solving skills, whether in truck driving, warehouse management, or strategic logistics planning. Their contributions are indispensable. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s crucial to recognize how vital it is to continue breaking down barriers and opening doors for the next generation of women leaders in logistics. With sustained efforts, the logistics industry can evolve into a more equitable, diverse, and innovative field for all.
