Planning a Greek trip is exciting. But without the right questions, it is easy to end up with an itinerary that looks good on paper and feels rushed in real life.

Here are the prompts we use when designing bespoke journeys for our clients:

1. What is your "why"?
Are you seeking adventure, deep relaxation, cultural immersion, or a romantic escape? Your motivation defines the entire tone of the trip.

2. What is your ideal travel pace?
Do you want to cover as much ground as possible, or would you rather slow down and truly experience two or three destinations? Both are valid. Only one is right for you.

3. What are your non-negotiables?
Ancient ruins, pristine beaches, local cuisine, watersports, sailing? Knowing your priorities helps us build around what matters most.

4. What kind of accommodation feels right?

Too many Greek islands on your list? That's one of the best problems to have. But without a clear strategy, it can turn a dream trip into a stressful one.

Here are 5 ways to narrow it down and build an itinerary that actually works for you.

1. Define your travel style
Are you drawn to vibrant energy (Mykonos), ancient history (Rhodes, Crete), romance (Santorini), or peaceful seclusion (Milos, Folegandros)? Your style should drive every choice.

2. Group islands by proximity
Cluster your stops within the same archipelago. Paros, Naxos, and Santorini all sit within the Cyclades and connect easily. Less time in transit means more time exploring.

3. Match your islands to the season
Some islands are best in the height of summer. Others reveal their true character in spring or early autumn, with fewer crowds and a more local feel. Timing shapes the entire experience.

4. Set a realistic pace
Visiting 6 islands in 10 days sounds exciting on paper. In practice, it means constant packing, early ferries, and no time to settle in. Two or three islands, done well, will always outperform a rushed list.

5. Lead with your must-have moments
Start with the experiences you cannot miss, a specific archaeological site, a culinary tradition, a landscape you have always wanted to see. Build your route around those anchors, then fill in the gaps.
