⚓️ Posidonia 2026 Closes on a High

After five remarkable days of meaningful connections, industry dialogue, and collaboration, Posidonia 2026 has concluded, reaffirming its position as the world's leading maritime exhibition and a key meeting point for the global shipping community.

This record-breaking edition welcomed more than 35,000 visitors and over 2,200 exhibiting companies from over 80 countries & territories, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, innovators and maritime professionals at a pivotal moment for global shipping.

Throughout the week, discussions focused on some of the industry's most pressing challenges and opportunities, including decarbonisation, maritime security, geopolitical developments, digitalisation and the future of global trade.
The event ended with the highly anticipated press conference of the Union of Greek Shipowners, led by President Melina Travlos, providing a fitting conclusion to an exhibition that once again placed Greece and Greek shipping at the centre of the global maritime dialogue.

More than an exhibition, Posidonia 2026 served as a platform for collaboration, strategic thinking and international engagement at a time when shipping continues to play a critical role in maintaining global connectivity, economic stability and supply chain resilience.

🌟 Youth Day at

As the industry looks towards the future, Youth Day highlighted the importance of attracting, educating and inspiring the talent that will shape the next era of global shipping.

The vibrant YES FORUM, which marked its 10th anniversary, brought together students, cadets and aspiring maritime professionals for a day of engaging discussions, networking opportunities and valuable insights into the diverse career paths, opportunities and challenges that define the maritime sector today.

At the same time, Naftika Chronika proudly celebrated 95 years of continuous publishing with an event focused on the future of Greek shipping entrepreneurship and the responsibilities, opportunities and transformative challenges that will shape the next generation of industry leaders. More than 250 students from Merchant Marine Academies and maritime universities across Greece, alongside prominent members of the shipping community attended the event.

Together, these two events demonstrated the maritime industry's strong commitment to nurturing future talent, fostering knowledge exchange and ensuring that the values, expertise and leadership that have shaped shipping for generations continue to thrive.

⚓️ One of the most inspiring moments of was the conference "Adopt a Ship: How Early Education is Changing the Future of Shipping – Raising the Maritime Workforce of 2036."

The session highlighted the growing impact of the Adopt a Ship educational programme by Project Connect, which introduces maritime education to primary and secondary school students and helps young people discover the opportunities offered by the shipping industry from an early age.

A particularly meaningful moment was the recognition of the teachers and captains who have embraced the programme and are helping bring the world of shipping into classrooms. INTERCARGO Chairman John Xylas and representatives of the Union of Greek Shipowners /Ένωσις Ελλήνων Εφοπλιστών honoured their contribution, acknowledging the vital role they play in inspiring the next generation of maritime professionals.
