The Côte d’Azur (the French Riviera) and Provence, South of France 💕
I came expecting just a beautiful region, not really knowing exactly what.
Instead, it unfolded one beautiful town, one memorable experience, and one unforgettable moment at a time.
Antibes completely stole my heart. Less famous than its glamorous neighbours, yet full of character, flower-lined streets, a beautiful medieval town, and evenings spent watching the boats, the lights and the calming Mediterranean Sea. It became my favourite base from which to explore the Riviera.
Every town had its own personality. Cannes surprised me with its charming old quarter beyond the red carpet. Monaco impressed with its dramatic setting and royal history. And the hilltop villages reminded me that sometimes the climb is rewarded with the most breathtaking views.
And just when I thought I’d found my favourite corner of the Mediterranean, Provence proved magical with the dramatic cliffs of the Calanques, road trip through the coastal winding roads providing spectacular views, unforgettable sunsets and warm beaches in the Saint Cyr Sur Mer.
The South of France isn’t just about luxury yachts and celebrities. It’s artisan gelato on a hot July afternoon, lingering over dinner in a lively square, watching the world go by from an outdoor café, cooling off in the warm Mediterranean, and embracing the slower rhythm of life.
Yes, there were heat waves, uphill climbs and days when our legs were begging for a rest. But somehow, those will become part of the memories too.
If you’re planning a trip to the South of France, don’t just tick off the famous places. Get to the smaller towns. Leave time to wander, linger, watch the boats, and let each town reveal its own story.
Sometimes the best memories are found in the little nooks and corners. 🇫🇷🌊
