❤️ LEARN LIFESAVING SKILLS – CARDIAC FIRST RESPONSE TRAINING!

Would you know what to do if someone suffered a cardiac arrest or another life-threatening emergency?

We've teamed up with Basic First Aid Solutions to deliver a certified Cardiac First Response – Community Training Course, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to act when it matters most!

This hands-on course covers:
✅ CPR and AED (defibrillator) use
✅ Recognising and responding to cardiac arrest
✅ Managing choking, stroke and chest pain
✅ Responding to emergencies involving infants, children and adults

📅 Monday 7th December
⏰ 6pm – 9.30pm
📍 CBS Dungarvan

This PHECC-certified course is ideal for coaches, volunteers, sports club members and anyone who wants to learn essential lifesaving skills.

We are delighted to celebrate the launch of Dungarvan Greenway parkrun, which held its inaugural event on Saturday, 17 October, welcoming a new weekly opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get active in the local community.

Taking place every Saturday morning, Dungarvan Greenway parkrun offers a free, timed 5km event along the beautiful Waterford Greenway, starting from Railway Cottage in Dungarvan. Whether you choose to walk, jog, run or volunteer, everyone is welcome, with no pressure to race or finish within a particular time.

We would like to thank all those who helped bring the event to life, including Dale and the wider parkrun team, the VHI, the HSE, the Railway Cottage, and Pascal and the dedicated team of local volunteers. Their support and commitment have helped establish an exciting new addition to the local physical activity calendar.

Volunteers are essential to the success of parkrun, and anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to lend a hand. No running experience is required, and even an occasional Saturday morning can make a real difference.

Dungarvan Greenway parkrun takes place every Saturday morning, starting from the Railway Cottage, Dungarvan. To take part, register for free on the parkrun Ireland website, select Dungarvan Greenway as your event, and download or print your personal barcode. Bring your barcode each week to receive your official time.

As part of the Camogie Association’s ongoing commitment to supporting coach development within Camogie, they are delighted to launch the Youth Development Workshop Series 2026. The series is specifically designed for U14, U15 and U16 Camogie Coaches and Development Squad Mentors and will provide practical learning opportunities from leading practitioners across coaching, player development, nutrition and sports science.
The workshops will take place online at 7:30pm on the following dates:

Fifteen participants enjoyed another wonderful walk as part of our Walk, Breathe, Connect 🌿☀️ series in the beautiful Anne Valley, Dunhill, on Tuesday. Blessed with sunny weather, we explored this beautiful natural setting, guided by Sarah Hourigan from Nature Therapy Ireland, who shared her knowledge and passion for the area along the way. 🌱

A big thank you to Sarah for leading the walk and to the Happy Grind for the lovely refreshments afterwards. 💚

We were delighted to welcome Uniek Sporten Brabant from the Netherlands to Waterford yesterday as part of an Erasmus visit, in partnership with Waterford City & County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership.

With inclusion at the heart of the visit, we took our visitors on a journey along the beautiful Copper Coast to showcase how local communities are creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active, connect and enjoy the outdoors.
🌿 Anne Valley Walk, Dunhill – Our first stop was the beautiful, fully accessible Anne Valley Walk, where visitors met service users and experienced the trail, alongside a wonderful nature therapy session with Nature Therapy Ireland.
🏐 Dunhill GAA Club – We explored the power of volunteerism in rural communities and how local clubs can champion inclusion. We also showcased the club’s new walkway and lighting, helping to create a more accessible and welcoming environment for everyone.
🌳 Copper Coast Scouts Outdoor Adventure Hub – Our final stop was a fantastic opportunity to meet Ray from Active Connections and discover how adapted equipment and inclusive approaches can open up outdoor adventure to people of all ages and abilities.
A huge thank you to the Anne Valley Committee, Dunhill GAA Club, Copper Coast Scouts, Active Connections and Nature Therapy Ireland for their warm welcome and for helping make this visit such a success.
👏 A brilliant example of what can be achieved when communities and organisations work together to make inclusion a reality!

Course: Safeguarding 2 – Club Childrens Officer

The CCO is the link between the children and the adults in the club. Club Children’s Officers should review current policies in relation to young people, check that all activities are safe and fun, and inform adults of how to deal with any concerns that may arise in relation to the protection of children and young people.

To assist them in their role, a person appointed to the role of Club Children’s Officer within a club should complete Sport Ireland's Safeguarding 2 - Club Children’s Officer workshop. (They must also have completed Sport Ireland's Safeguarding 1 - Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop.)

The aim of this Safeguarding 2 workshop is to help the Club Children’s Officer to carry out their role and educate participants on the implementation of best practice in safeguarding the welfare of children involved in sport.

Participants will also receive a Club Children’s Officer Action Planning document as part of the training.
