Portumna Castle and Irish Workhouse Centre 🏰📝

School tour season is in full flow.

Today with Gurteen National School we visited Portumna Castle and Gardens, which is kept in immaculate condition by the OPW.

We then moved on to the Irish workhouse centre in Portumna which was used during the Great Famine to house and provide for the most vulnerable who could not provide for themselves.
