That is why tourists have not had free time here for a few years. If the tourist destination of Vagamon is beautiful, then Elaveezhapoonchira is the most beautiful.

Elaveezhapoonchira is located on the border of Idukki and Kottayam districts. It is located at an elevation of 3200 ft above sea level, between Mankunnath, Kadayannurmala and Thannipara Hills. It is also close to the Illukkal Stone Peak, which is visited by many tourists.

It is located at a distance of 20 km from Thodupuzha in Idukki district. From Thodupuzha, travel to Moolamattom and reach Kaunjar village. From there, turn right for 7 km to reach Elaveezhapoonchira. There are jeeps from here. The charge will be around Rs.600. Elaveezhapoonchira can be reached from Pala. Elaveezhapoonchira is located at a distance of 55 km from Kottayam.

It is said that during the exile of the Pandavas, they lived in this deciduous forest. Bhimasena, who is said to have built a bath for Panchali, can still be seen here. While Panchali was bathing, some gods would be watching. It is said that Indra noticed this and created three hills with flowering trees to hide Panchali from their eyes. However, the name Elaveezhapoonchira may have come from the fact that there are no trees in this area and the leaves are not likely to fall. A nearby temple supports this legend.

Ilaveezhapoonchira is the perfect place to watch the sunrises and sunsets. It is one of the first places in Kerala to experience lightning. The arrival of lightning is often unexpected when one is immersed in the beauty of the views from the top of the mountain. There are now restrictions on spending extra time here to avoid the risk of this happening.

If you look from Ilaveezhapoonchira, you can see the Illukkal stone in the distance. There is only one way to walk here.
