নতুন বছর। কথায় বলে নতুন বছর মানে নতুন উদ্যোগ,নতুন আশা। বিশ্বজোড়া অতিমারীর মধ্যে নতুন বছর নিয়ে আশায় বুক বাঁধছি আমরা সবাই।

আর, এই সব ঠিক হয়ে যাবে- আশা নিয়েই নতুন বছরের শুরুতে আমরা সময় কাটাবো উত্তরবঙ্গের পাহাড়ের এক গ্রামে। ছোট্ট একটা গ্রাম চারখোল। জেলা হিসেব করে বললে কালিম্পঙ জেলা। কিন্তু কালিম্পঙ শুনলে চোখের সামনে যা ভেসে ওঠে তার চেয়ে অনেক আলাদা। ইতিউতি ছড়িয়ে থাকা গ্রামীণ জীবন। সমতলের গ্রামের সঙ্গে মিল নেই। উপভোগ করবো পাহাড়ি বাঁক, পাইনের বন, ঢাল নেমে যাওয়া খাদ, সারি সারি পাহাড়ের খাঁজ। চোখের সামনে কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা ধরা দেবে মোহময়ী হয়ে। আপামর পাহাড়প্রেমী বাঙালির কাছে যা ভালোবাসার নামান্তর। শুধুই ছুটোছুটি করে এক পয়েন্ট থেকে আরেক পয়েন্ট ঘোরা নয়, কোনো খাদের ধারে দাঁড়িয়ে পাহাড়কে আত্মস্থ করার নামও ভ্রমণ।

বেশিদিনের জন্য নয়,অনেকজন মিলেও নয়। দু'রাত্রি-তিন দিন চারখোল যাবো। জানুয়ারির উইকেন্ডে।

১৪-০১-২১: বৃহস্পতিবার রাত দশটায় ট্রেনে উঠবো।
১৫-০১-২১: শুক্রবার সকালে পৌঁছোবো। সেবকে ব্রেকফাস্ট করে দুপুরের মধ্যে চারখোল পৌঁছে যাবো। সারাদিন চারখোলে সময় কাটানো।
১৬-০১-২১: শনিবার সারাদিন গাড়ি নিয়ে চারখোলের চারদিকে ঘোরা। সম্ভব হলে সানরাইজ দেখা। ছোট্ট সহজ ট্রেকিং করা। পাহাড় উপভোগ। খাওয়াদাওয়া। বনফায়ার। বারবিকিউ। নিজেদের মতো সময় কাটানো পাহাড়ের গ্রামে।
১৭-০১-২১: রবিবার একটু আর্লি লাঞ্চ করে এনজেপি ফিরে আসা। রাতের ট্রেনে জার্নি।
১৮-০১-২১: সোমবার ভোর ছ'টার মধ্যে কলকাতা ফেরত।

Note: Most popular weekend destination near Kolkata with the memory of Rabindranath Tagore. In this covid situation, Viswabharati University and Museum are closed for visitors as of now. Other spots are open. Try to visit Shantiniketan in Toto or Auto, the drivers are excellent guide of the full area. There are plenty of hotels in Shantiniketan. Choose according to your budget. WBTDC Rangabitan Tourist Complex, Shantisudha Homestay, Mitali Homestay, Bolpur Lodge etc. are recommended. For lunch, try to experience at Barishal er Rannaghar and Amaar Kutir Heshel Ghar.

জানুয়ারিতে পাহাড় যাবো কথা দিয়েছিলাম। ট্যুরটা প্ল্যান করতে বেশ অনেকটা দেরী হয়ে গেলো। আন্তরিক ক্ষমাপ্রার্থী তার জন্য। তারপর প্ল্যান করার পরেও বেশ কিছু সমস্যা দেখলাম অনেকের হচ্ছে। ছুটির সমস্যা, এতো কমদিনের মধ্যে যাওয়ার সমস্যা, অনেকবার দার্জিলিং ঘুরে ফেলায় আর যেতে ইচ্ছে না করার সমস্যা, অনেকজনের সঙ্গে যাওয়ার অনীহা; সর্বোপরি বাজেট সমস্যা তো আছেই। তাই সবার সব দিক বিবেচনা করে আমি সাধ্যমতো ট্যুরে কিছু রদবদল করছি।

দু'রাত্রি-তিন দিন চারখোল যাবো শুধু। জানুয়ারির উইকেন্ডে।

Note: The place is very popular for picnic. As such no sightseeing places are present. Riverside picnic, boating and relaxation is ideal. Try to return before dusk. For women, the place is not too safe, be little careful while loitering around riverside.
