What an epic road trip across Georgia!!

Four Jeep Renegades, One Compass, 19 travellers and one soul purpose: to go on a self drive adventure across GEORGIA!

What we saw and witnessed over the last two weeks was pure unadulterated bliss. Georgia is one of the most fun, most beautiful and most welcoming territories that is yet to come to under the Schengen visa zone…

Not only is it unique in terms of its linguistic history, it is also unique as one of the oldest wine producing regions in the World. It also reflects both Soviet era and post Cold War influences in its architecture, its intermingled cultures, food, and traditions.

What piqued my interest is the country’s varied topographical terrains across West to East, which we covered across two weeks.

Five incredibly brave (including myself occasionally) adventurous drivers along with friends and family zipped through the highways, internal roads, countrysides and bustling cities of the country following traffic rules, maintaining a convoy with strict protocol, timings and a sense of adventure.

What a beautiful 10th birthday surprise from Nani Veena Hasan

A novel written and conceptualised by storyteller and author Shraddha Nigavekar especially for Arianna!! This is a mystery series where the story comes alive with four characters - “the fabulous four” working puzzles as they go about solving the mystery. What’s more, the book even has her real life best friends in it..💝

She absolutely loved the surprise and can hardly wait to read it 💝

Had the honour of attending the Annual Day Function of in Pune.

The theme was Rhythm-e-Bharat and it was a delight watching the cute little kids perform such brilliant acts on stage with such confidence and passion. I loved the variety of performances showcasing India’s different States. The hard work put in by the teachers, staff and the kids supported by the parent community reflected in the performance.

I have never spoken at a school function earlier, so this was my first time. Since the theme was reflective of India’s diversity, nothing felt more right than to speak about building resilience through travel. Travelling with kids from a young age truly makes them adapt, accept, and enjoy the different cultures, and experiences in life.

My advice to parents I meet otherwise also is this: take a shot at going out of the comfort zone with your kids. Stay away from the typical cookie cutter travels with your children. Give them opportunities to try out a different sort of stay, eat unfamiliar food, try a difficult activity and meet unfamiliar people once in a while. These unique experiences may be uncomfortable for them now, but they will shape them in the long run, making them more tolerant and adaptable to the World around us. Travelling teaches us that there is so much we still do not know about the World and there is always a chance to find out when we step out of home.

My real life energy bars are these beautiful humans I keep encountering on my travels…

Kids of all sizes (the two bright kids from .in included) fill me up with joys I hadn’t known before…and laughter with likeminded women fill me up with a continued passion for life!! There is not much one needs in order to live well, I presume if one regularly engages and comes across people like them in life’s journey!

I’ve been fortunate to meet some incredible, motivated, brave, kind, funny and amazingly gifted women on my travels and more fortunate to meet some of the wonderful children on this planet with the most inquisitive and beautiful questions and thoughts about the places we visit together!!

On hard days, you guys really keep the memories flowing and the laughter ringing in my ears … ❤️❤️

Love you guys!! No sob stories, only happy funny wild stories when we travel 😜🤣😘🥰

HOSTELLING as an older BACKPACKER !!

This post is about a great lifestyle choice I made mostly after I became a mom!

I had never really been exposed to hostels in India, as hostelling was not even a thing here more than a decade ago. Now, you will find so many great chains all over India and one in almost every city.

I have been hostelling extensively wherever I travelled since 2008…across New Zealand, Canada and Europe with family, but the real fun began after I became a mother and hostelled with Arianna in Germany! Yes, I started enjoying it as an older backpacker!

I can vouch for trying out this lifestyle while travelling because not only does it help you save so much money while visiting a foreign locale, but it also exposes you to opportunities, local activities and you end up organically making global friends

I stayed at hostels in Italy last year as an older solo backpacker, and while it was a sudden change for me again to sleep in a dorm after years, I highly recommend it when you are travelling alone.

You will find some of the most uniquely designed hostels at amazing locations when you travel outside India and also within.

A good tip is to get a YHAI (Youth Hostels Association of India) membership that entitles you a discount when you stay at its partner hostels across the World.

If you want to explore it with a child, book a private dorm(like I do) or a private room, both available in many family friendly hostels.

While most hostellers are usually young carefree travellers, you will also find a host of seasoned backpackers much much older and so much fun, staying along with you.

The hostels I show here are in Italy :

✅Ostello Bello, Florence (four bed female dorm)

✅Anda, Venice (six bed female dorm)

Go for well rated hostels, and then pick one located near a train/bus station for easy commutes.

Find out local activities, free cooking classes, game nights, live music and sightseeing tours and join your hostel mates while travelling!

Remember, the World is huge and there’s so much to see and experience. Don’t cut off these opportunities just because you are older now. If you are flexible, you may enjoy life even more!!
