With civilization has evolved Civil Engineering and with Civil Engineering has developed civilization! Since shelter is one of the essential needs of survival and building a safe, secured and cozy shelter is an instinct, it will not be an exaggeration to say that Civil Engineering is the most basic branch of Engineering. It is a discipline that deals with the planning, designing, construction and
maintenance of the structures, including residential and industrial buildings, airports, docks, roadways, railways, bridges, canals and dams. It also deals with research and testing of construction materials, pollution control, water treatment and sewage treatment. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines like environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, earthquake engineering, transportation engineering, water resources engineering, offshore engineering, surveying, quantity surveying and construction management. The Department of Civil Engineering at APSIT has developed laboratory for Engineering Mechanics. Laboratory development for Strength of Materials, Concrete Technology, Transportation Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Engineering Geology and Surveying is in full swing. As soon as these laboratories are functional, the Department shall be offering consultancy services in the concerned fields. CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT FACULTIES:
