I stopped doing these 3 things and everything changed…
You’ve seen those photos.
Families in lie-flat seats.
Kids with their own little pods. Landing in Tokyo actually rested.
I used to look at those and think… that’s not for families like mine.
Then I stopped 🛑doing these 3 things and everything changed:
👉 Waiting until I felt “ready” to figure it out
I kept telling myself I’d research it properly when things slowed down. When the kids were older. When we had more points saved up.
But award seats to Asia don’t wait for you to feel ready. The families booking those lie-flat seats in July started planning in October. I had to learn that the hard way.
👉 Assuming all points programs work the same
I spent months collecting points with one credit card that looked great on paper. Then I tried to book 4 seats together over spring break and found nothing.
Because some programs are built for one person on a random Tuesday. They were never designed for families. Finding the ones that actually are changed everything.
👉 Treating points like a bonus instead of a plan
I used to think of points as a nice little surprise “oh look, we have enough for something. “
But the families flying Business Class to Asia aren’t stumbling into it.
They decided where they wanted to go, figured out how many points they needed, and worked backwards. That shift in thinking is what made it real for us.
