The Purgatory Church in Marsala. The city is located on the west coast, just a little over a half-hour’s drive from Trapani. Marsala is a great place to stop for a day trip, or you can spend several days there. Attractions include the historic town centre with its shops, the salt pans, the island of Mozia, and numerous wineries. Outside the town, but not far away, you'll find the town of Mazara del Vallo and the Selinunte Archaeological Park.

When rebelling against the Bourbons, the people of Palermo gathered around his statue. There are several statues of him in the city; this one is in the Botanical Garden. The eagle dates back to Roman times, as does the snake, which was the symbol of Scipio Africanus, the man who defeated Hannibal.
