Today we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the birth of the Republic, founded on June 2, 1946, as an expression of the will of the majority of the population.

For the first time in history, women too were able to express their opinion through the vote.

The 54.3% of Italians chose a free, democratic, and work-based nation.

EASTER IN TUSCANY 🐣🐇🐰

Pasimata is a kind of bread typical of Lucca and surrounding for EASTER.

According to tradition, it is made with the addition of eggs and aniseed. It's preparation could last for two or three days and was blessed during the holy Mass of the Saturday, together with eggs. 🍞🥚🍫

Among the dense vegetation of willows, poplars, and reeds, birds the likes of cormorants, herons, mallards, and kingfishers find refuge. 🦢

You can peacefully walk for several kilometers on the paths running along the canals. And make pleasant encounters with sheep and cute lambs grazing. 🌞🐐🐑🚶‍♂️

This year Dante’s Day has an even greater symbolic value. because it falls on the occasion of the seventh centenary of his death.

According to Dante scholars, on March 25 Dante begins his otherworldly journey recounted in The Divine Comedy.

Dante's words fit perfectly in this difficult time for mankind: halfway along our life's path, we found ourselves within a dark wood where the straight way was lost. But finally, as we read in the last verse of the Inferno’s last canto, “and thence we came forth to contemplate the stars”. We all hope so. 💫⭐️

Dante's remains are in Ravenna, where he died in 1321. While in Florence, his native city, a cenotaph in the Basilica of Santa Croce honors the memory of the great Poet.

𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐳𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐳𝐳𝐢! The intent of JR, the famous French artist who made this artwork, is to stimulate a consideration on the accessibility of cultural sites in this historical period.

Through this imaginary Wound, JR invites us to enter a place where reality and illusion merge, where the real colonnade on the ground floor supports an imaginary exhibition hall with some of the icons of the Florentine Artistic Heritage!

You can admire the Wound by JR from 19 March to 22 August 2021.

In my hometown in Tuscany, on March 19 we also celebrate our patron saint, St. Joseph. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Yummy, fluffy, and fragrant, it is hard to stop eating them. 😋

You find Garfagnana in the north-central area of the Italian boot. It is very close to Lucca, Pisa and to the Tuscan Riviera. The finding has important historical relevance for the study of the traditions of the people who inhabited this territory. Yesterday a rather strange phenomenon happened here on the coast of Northern Tuscany and Liguria. Suddenly, in the middle of the afternoon, a thick blanket of fog rolled down obscuring a pleasant sunny day.

This particular weather event is called "Caligo". It forms when warm, moist air flows over relatively colder waters.
