Our Story
Editamateria is a Turin based brand focuses on the relationship between creativity and the culture of knowhow becoming a collection point for Italian creativity and Italian materials, expressions of the Italian style and Italian “savoir vivre”. Launched in 2014 with the passion of Silvia Ariemma, founder and creative director of the brand, her research directed towards contemporary design with a focus on craft. Inspired by the 2012 Turin Design Week exhibit “Wabi Sabi, Italian Slow Design” which she co-curated, Ariemma began her quest to develop and promote this imperfectly perfect design aesthetic through ongoing collaborations with the Italian slow designers. The brand has collaborated over the years with a number of contemporary designers and makers and was presented internationally for the first time at the Design Museum of Holon in 2015, during the Italy-Israel Design Forum, with the exhibition ” Editamateria Liquid Glass”. During the 2018 Milano Design Week, Editamateria worked with an Italian creative team in order to give the guest visitor a totally Italian experience, combining design, craftsmanship, art, fashion and the specially composed background music. In one of the evocative tunnels of Ventura Centrale, Editamateria presented the installation “una stanza with Antonio Aricò" bringing the visitor back to the past, to an archaic and primordial vision, a room where the essential becomes indispensable. With a peek into an intimate ad sophisticated Vita Italiana where Credenza, Fratino and Scrittoio all designed by Antonio Aricò represented a wood collection of primitive, sculptured, heavy, and ever-present materials.
Editamateria works also as a talent scouter and a creative agency aimed at discovering and promote the work of designers, artists and artisans, and as an agency promoting the “MADE IN”, to prototype, to create and to edit new collections destined to public and private clients around the world.
