Un tempo, nel cuore del mare, dimorava Parthenope, una sirena di straordinaria bellezza, tra le rocce di una remota insenatura.
In una fatale coincidenza, la nave dell’audace Ulisse approdò proprio in quelle acque abitate dalle seducenti creature marine.
Il mito tramanda che Parthenope, affascinata dalla figura dell’eroe, intonò un canto magico nella speranza di catturare il suo cuore, ma il valoroso Ulisse rimase immune alle sue lusinghe.
Incapace di accettare il rifiuto, la sirena Parthenope fu travolta dal dolore e, in un gesto disperato, si lanciò dalla vetta di una roccia imponente.
Le onde gelide la trascinarono fino alle coste del golfo di Napoli , precisamente sull’isolotto di Megaride. Qui, il corpo di Parthenope si fuse con la terra e l’acqua, dando origine a quella che sarebbe diventata la splendida città di Napoli: la collina di Capodimonte prese la forma della sua testa, mentre la sua coda si estese lungo la collina di Posillipo.
Ancora oggi, la leggenda di Parthenope persiste nei racconti e nelle tradizioni della città, simbolo eterno di bellezza e passione, così come del forte legame tra Napoli e il mare che la circonda.

In a fatal coincidence, the ship of the daring Ulysses landed in those waters inhabited by seductive sea creatures.
The myth is that Parthenope, fascinated by the figure of the hero, sang a magical song in the hope of capturing his heart, but the valiant Ulysses remained immune to her flattery.
Unable to accept the refusal, the Parthenope mermaid was overwhelmed by pain and, in a desperate gesture, threw herself from the top of an imposing rock.
The freezing waves dragged her to the shores of the Gulf of Naples, precisely on the islet of Megaride. Here, Parthenope's body merged with earth and water, giving rise to what would become the beautiful city of Naples: the hill of Capodimonte took the shape of his head, while his tail extended along the hill of Posillipo.
Even today, the legend of Parthenope persists in the stories and traditions of the city, an eternal symbol of beauty and passion, as well as the strong bond between Naples and the sea that surrounds it.
