Sterzing/Vipiteno is the northernmost town in South Tyrol and a true Alpine gem. Colorful alleys, cozy cafés, and the mountain backdrop create a truly feel-good atmosphere. A place to return to ❤️

Ab in die Dolomiten…viel gibt es nicht zu erzählen, einfach nur Landschaft geniessen. Die ust nömlich absolut beeindruckend.
Ein Stopp in Cortina d‘Ampezzo, nach 1956 wieder mal Olympiastadt in 2026, hat uns ehrlich gesagt etwas enttäuscht. Viel zu viele Baustellen (naja, halt wegen Olympia) und viel zu viele Asiaten mit unterirdischem Benehmen.
Wir sind schnell weiter und haben lieber auf dem Rückweg die Natur genossen. Und ne megagute Pasta auf dem Passo Falzarego.
Zurück nicht über Stock und Stein, aber durch unzählige Kurven und schlussendlich 3 Pässe. Herausfordernd, aber es hat sich absolut gelohnt.

Off to the Dolomites... there's not much to say, just enjoy the scenery. It's absolutely stunning. A stop in Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Olympic city again in 2026 after 1956, was, to be honest, a bit disappointing. Far too many construction sites (well, because of the Olympics, of course) and far too many Asians with terrible behavior. We moved on quickly and preferred to enjoy the nature on the way back. And a fantastic pasta dish at the Falzarego Pass. The return journey wasn't over hill and dale, but through countless curves and ultimately three passes. Challenging, but absolutely worth it.

Heute also mal Bruneck. Mitten im schönen Pustertal gelegen, sonst ein gemütliches Tor zu den Bergen. Heute aber Ausnahmezustand: Ramschmarkt Wussten wir nicht, sonst hätten wir anders geplant…Senioren stürmen in Busladungen die Stadt, bewaffnet mit Einkaufstaschen und erstaunlicher Ausdauer. Kopfsteinpflaster? Kein Hindernis! Beste Disziplin: ohne Vorwarnung abrupt stehen bleiben. Mitten im Weg. Kaffeefahrt anno 2025. Diese Belagerung ist nichts für uns.
Uns zieht es in die Altstadt, die wirklich sehenswert ist. Und nicht ganz so überfüllt 😉

So, today it's Bruneck. Located in the heart of the beautiful Pustertal Valley, it's usually a cozy gateway to the mountains. But today, it's a state of emergency: a flea market. We didn't know that, otherwise we would have planned differently... Seniors are storming the town by the busload, armed with shopping bags and showing amazing stamina. Cobblestones? No obstacle! Best discipline: stopping abruptly without warning. Right in the middle of the road. A coffee trip in 2025. This siege isn't for us. We're drawn to the old town, which is truly worth seeing. And not quite as crowded 😉

Brixen vibes ✨🌄 Zwischen bunten Gassen, Cappuccino in der Sonne und Bergen direkt vor der Tür – hier trifft Dolce Vita auf Alpenfeeling. Mein persönliches Highlight: Birthday-Shopping im Rookies and Kings 🖤 Uns gefällt’s hier richtig gut – Brixen kommt definitiv auf die Bucketlist! ✅

Brixen vibes ✨🌄 Strolling through colorful alleys, sipping cappuccino in the sun and mountains just around the corner – the perfect mix of dolce vita and alpine feeling. My personal highlight: birthday shopping at Rookies and Kings 🖤 We loved it here – Brixen is definitely going on the bucket list! ✅

Meran, eine Kurstadt in Südtirol, umgeben von Bergen und gesegnet mit mildem Klima. Wir genießen die Wärme und die Sonne, schlendern durch die Gassen, trinken Kaffee und spüren die Mischung aus Alpin und Mediterran. Schön und entspannt – aber ehrlich gesagt, es haut uns nicht vom Hocker. Nett für den Moment, aber kein Ort, der einen fixen Platz auf unserer Bucketlist bekommt. Aber Gewchmäcker sind ja GsD verschieden.

Merano, a spa town in South Tyrol, surrounded by mountains and blessed with a mild climate. We enjoy the warmth and the sun, strolling through the streets, sipping coffee, and taking in the mix of Alpine and Mediterranean vibes. It’s lovely and relaxing – but honestly, it doesn’t blow us away. Nice for the moment, but not a place that makes it onto our bucket list – but hey, everyone’s taste is different.

Noch ein kleiner Nachtrag 😉 Ehrlich, wie wir nunmal sind 😉
Zur Vorstellung der Teams hat es uns auf den Grand Place in Lille gezogen…was soll man dazu sagen?
Die Idee „tous en jaune“ war schon toll. Alles sollte in gelb leuchten. Hat auch ganz gut geklappt 😂
Damit die Warterei nicht zu lang wurde, gab es ein kleines Vorprogramm…ok, alles ist nunmal Geschmackssache. Aber eine grell kreischende Moderatorin (uns unbekannt) und angebliche „Top-Breakdancer“ die den Ausdruck wohl eher vom Hörensagen kennen? Das kann Frankreich und sicher auch Lille definitiv besser. Die Begeisterung auch der uns umgebenden Zuschauer hielt sich augenscheinlich wahrlich in Grenzen 🫣
Aber es ging um die Hauptakteure des Rennens, ja genau, die Teams, dafür sind wir da. Und auf die konnten wir dank Großleinwänden den ein oder anderen guten Blick erhaschen. Das war schon besonders.
Und auch wenn es zwischendrin durch viel Gequatsche sehr langatmig wurde…das erlebt man nicht jeden Tag 💛

One more little postscript 😉 Honest as we are 😉
To see the team presentation, we made our way to the Grand Place in Lille… what can we say?
The idea of “tous en jaune” was a great one — everything was supposed to shine in yellow. And, well, it mostly worked 😂
To make the wait a bit more bearable, there was a little pre-show… ok, tastes may differ. But a shrill, screeching presenter (unknown to us) and so-called “top breakdancers” who probably only heard what breakdancing is? France — and surely Lille — can definitely do it better. The enthusiasm among the people around us seemed, well, quite limited 🫣
But of course, the focus was on the real stars of the race — yes, the teams. That’s what we came for. And thanks to the big screens, we were able to catch a decent glimpse of a few of them. That was definitely something special.
And even though it dragged a bit in places due to all the talking… this isn’t something you get to see every day 💛

Einmal etwas ganz anderes 💛
Als Fans der Tour de France, dem grössten Radrennen der Welt, haben wir bereits 2018 eine Etappe besucht.
Der Grand Depart der Tour de France 2025, die 112. Auflage, findet dieses Jahr in Lille statt, eine nette Stadt im Norden Frankreichs. Und gerade mal knapp 3 Stunden entfernt von unserer Heimatstadt. Damit war bereits letztes Jahr klar: wir sind dabei!
Ja, 2017 fand der Grand Depart tatsächlich in Düsseldorf statt und die Tour führte auch durch Neuss. Aber das ist nichts gegen die Stimmung hier in Frankreich! 🇫🇷 💛

Something completely different this time 💛

As passionate fans of the Tour de France – the greatest cycling race in the world – we already visited a stage back in 2018.

The Grand Départ of the 2025 Tour de France, the 112th edition, will take place this year in Lille, a charming city in northern France. And it’s just under 3 hours from our hometown – so it was clear to us already last year: we’re going!

Yes, the Grand Départ was actually held in Düsseldorf in 2017, and the Tour even passed through Neuss. But that doesn’t come close to the atmosphere here in France! 🇫🇷 💛

Die B96 – die “Route 66 des Ostens” – ist eine der bekanntesten Bundesstraßen in Ostdeutschland. Sie verläuft von Zittau in Sachsen bis Sassnitz auf der Insel Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und erstreckt sich über rund 520 Kilometer.

Zu DDR-Zeiten war sie eine der wichtigsten Nord-Süd-Verbindungen, die viele Orte mit wirtschaftlicher und kultureller Bedeutung verband. Auch heute noch ist sie ein Symbol für Reisen, Aufbruch und Heimatgefühl, ähnlich wie die berühmte Route 66 in den USA.

Die Strecke führt durch wunderschöne Landschaften, historische Städte wie Dresden, Berlin und Stralsund, sowie durch viele kleine Orte, die von den Veränderungen nach der Wende geprägt sind. Für Nostalgiker, Motorradfahrer und Roadtrip-Fans ist die B96 deshalb ein echtes Erlebnis – mit Geschichte, Charme und Ostalgie.

Und hier auf Rügen in dem kleinen Dotf Sagard (wir haben hier unser Ferienhaus) nicht weit weg von der B96 bekommt man tatsächlich ein wenig Route 66 Feeling 🇺🇸❤️

The B96 – the “Route 66 of the East” – is one of the most well-known federal roads in eastern Germany. It runs from Zittau in Saxony to Sassnitz on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, stretching over approximately 520 kilometers.

During the GDR era, it was one of the most important north-south routes, connecting many towns with economic and cultural significance. Even today, it remains a symbol of travel, freedom, and a sense of home – much like the famous Route 66 in the USA.

The road passes through beautiful landscapes, historic cities like Dresden, Berlin, and Stralsund, as well as many small towns shaped by the changes after reunification. For nostalgics, motorcyclists, and road trip fans, the B96 is a true experience – full of history, charm, and a touch of “Ostalgie”.

And here on Rügen, in the small village of Sagard (where we’ve rented our holiday home), not far from the B96, you can actually feel a little bit of that Route 66 vibe 🇺🇸❤️.
