LAST DAY IN ZANZIBAR 🇹🇿🚲⚽🌊
On my last day in Zanzibar, I noticed that my Airbnb had bicycles available and I was immediately like, “YASSSS!” 🙌🏾😂
My Maasai guide and I rode the bikes down to the beach, where I spent some time relaxing by the ocean. After that, I headed back, changed into something more comfortable, and set out on another bicycle adventure to do some souvenir shopping.🛍️
To my pleasant surprise, the souvenir area was right beside a beach where locals were playing football. This was actually the second time in just five days that I came across a football game on a Zanzibar beach, and both times I was welcomed with open arms and invited to join in. ⚽❤️
Honestly, riding a bicycle through the community and playing football on the beach ended up being some of my favourite moments from my entire trip to Africa. It reminded me that it’s often the simplest experiences that bring us the greatest joy and create the memories that stay with us forever.
Anywho, be sure to check out Part 1 & 2 of my Zanzibar solo travel vlog on YouTube! 💃🏽🎥

The food in Zanzibar was simply AMAZING 😍 From the fresh tropical fruits to the seafood and flavorful dishes, every meal was an experience of its own. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the strong Indian influence on the cuisine and culture throughout the island.

Because of Zanzibar’s long history of trade with places like Oman and India, the island has developed a unique blend of African, Arab, and Indian flavors and traditions 🇹🇿🇴🇲🇮🇳✨

ZANZIBAR SOLO TRIP Part 1 & 2 vlogs are OUT NOW on my YouTube channel 💃🏽🌍‼️‼️
While staying in Zanzibar, I explored the historic streets of Stone Town and got the chance to learn more about the island’s deep and eye-opening history. From the slave trade era, to the blend of cultures and traditions, every corner of the town had a story to tell.

One thing I found especially interesting was learning how families and communities expressed their identity and status through the designs of their doors. I also visited historical sites connected to the church and slavery era, including hidden chambers believed to have been used during that period.

And of course — I learnt that legendary singer Freddie Mercury was born right there in Zanzibar 🇹🇿✨

It was such an amazing and educational experience, and I’m really happy I got to do this tour. Be sure to check out the full vlogs on my YouTube channel 💃🏽💃🏽

JAMAICAN 🇯🇲 in TANZANIA 🇹🇿
When I Travelled to Zanzibar solo, nightlife wasn’t apart of the itinerary just sand 🏝️ sun ☀️ and sea 🌊 but I was pleasantly surprised when the Masai beach boy who was assigned to my villa 🏡 asked me if I wanted to drive to a party after dinner & I was like why not.

I thought it was a house party or something I wasn’t expecting it to be a whole club it’s like coco bongo meets Africa and they called it Cocobello & this night was definitely a fun unexpected night that I would never forget 💃🏽💃🏽 my only regret is not going back to the villa to change out of my dinner attire but that was the least
Driving in Zanzibar is also something I never planned on doing but my Airbnb had a vehicle and the beach boy asked me if I knew how to drive and I was like why not , they drive on the left side of the road just like we do in Jamaica 🇯🇲

JAMAICAN🇯🇲 IN ZANZIBAR 🇹🇿
Traveling to Zanzibar was by far one of by best vacations ever , while I was there I definitely wanted to learn about the indigenous people and my visit to the Masai Village allowed just that, the Masai way of living is quite different from the way I live here in Jamaica 🇯🇲
Here are some inter facts about the Masai people
1 Masai men can have as many wives as he wish but the wives are responsible for building their own house while the men go hunting to provide food
2 The Masai people only eat 2 times a day , milk in the morning & then dinner which is usually one of the 3 meats that they eat ie cow, goat & pig (they only eat animals that have 4 feet and don’t eat fish because fish is the snake of the sea)
3. Masai boys leave the village around 7 to learn all they need to know about circumcision, which is the ceremony that is performed at age 12 and marks them entering manhood, the procedure is performed without any form of anesthesia & if he cries during the procedure he’s not considered a man and won’t be eligible for a wife . Once done successfully he get to wear red and is now eligible to get a wife.
Circumcision on females use to take place on girls but have stopped because the govt of Tanzania considers it genitalia mutilation
4. Slide 15 is their toothbrush & slide 17 is what they use as a telephone
5. In order for a Masai man to get a wife he must afford the bride price which is 10 cows or if he kills a lion then he’s able to get a bride for free
There’s so much more I learnt while I was at their village to see the rest head over to my YouTube channel and check out the vlog in full 🎬
