However, because it's relatively small compared to other popular ski destinations in Japan, this might discourage some visitors who want more terrain options. Additionally, getting to Geto Kogen takes some planning and travel time since it's located in a more remote area.

Accommodation choices at Geto Kogen are limited. The resort only has a dormitory and a few hotel-grade rooms available for ski-in, ski-out stays. While this means the overall cost is lower, the hotel experience may not be as luxurious or comfortable compared to other resorts on this list. Alternatively, you can stay in Kitakami town and commute to the resort by bus each day.

Myoko Kogen ski resort is located close to the sea in Niigata Prefecture. The precipitation first occurs here before reaching Nagano's ski resorts further inland. Myoko Kogen (Mt. Myoko) consists of several ski resorts but the main ones are Akakura Kanko, Akakura Onsen, Suginohara and Ikenotaira. This resort is famous for its abundant Japow, off-piste skiing, and backcountry adventures.

Visitors to Myoko Kogen can still enjoy the nearby town which still has some Japanese atmosphere, providing a unique cultural immersion alongside excellent Japow experience. One thing to note about Myoko Kogen is that the ski areas are not interconnected (except Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen). If you don't have a car, it may be slightly inconvenient if you want to visit all resorts in the area.
