It's one of the most frequently asked questions.... and we're glad people are asking.

OCDNKE (Online Cab Drivers Network Kenya) is a volunteer-driven initiative bringing together online cab drivers with one shared goal: to build a stronger, more informed, and better-organized driver community.

Today, OCDNKE has taken formal legal steps to protect the integrity of our organization, our volunteers, and our members.

We have officially reported a series of alleged false accusations, defamatory statements, abusive remarks, and cyberbullying directed at OCDNKE through social media. The matter has been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation.

We wish to make one thing clear:

OCDNKE has nothing to hide. If anyone genuinely believes they have been defrauded, conned, or otherwise wronged by OCDNKE, we encourage them to report the matter to the appropriate authorities and provide credible evidence. We are fully prepared to cooperate with any lawful investigation.

We will continue defending the reputation of this organization through lawful means while remaining focused on our mission of advancing the welfare and interests of online cab drivers across Kenya.

OFFICIAL NOTICE
There comes a time when silence is mistaken for weakness.

For months, the Online Cab Drivers Network KE (OCDNKE) has remained focused on serving, uniting, and advocating for online cab drivers across Kenya. Unfortunately, a few individuals have repeatedly published content that OCDNKE believes contains false allegations, misinformation, and abusive remarks directed at our organization and its volunteer leadership.

Following the completion of our registration, OCDNKE intends to formally report these matters to the relevant authorities and pursue the legal remedies available under Kenyan law regarding publications made by:

• Gatusso Kinyozi
• Charles Momanyi
• Madrigal Ken

We welcome criticism, debate, and accountability... but we will not accept deliberate misinformation or attacks that we believe are intended to damage the reputation of an organization built through volunteer effort and sacrifice.

We ask our members and supporters to remain respectful, avoid online confrontations, and allow the proper legal processes to take their course.

PUBLIC NOTICE: FACTS OVER RUMOURS
Over the past several weeks, a number of individuals have publicly accused Online Cab Drivers Network KE (OCDNKE) and its leadership of conning drivers, misusing members' contributions, and engaging in unlawful activities.

Today, we are giving every person who has made these allegations a fair opportunity to present their evidence publicly.

If you claim that:

- OCDNKE has conned any driver;
- Members' contributions have been misused;
- OCDNKE or any of its leaders has broken the law;

Please provide verifiable evidence. Share receipts, records, names, or any other facts that support your claims. Serious allegations deserve serious proof.

If anyone believes a criminal offence has been committed, we encourage them to report the matter to the appropriate authorities. We are prepared to cooperate fully with any lawful investigation because we believe transparency and accountability are essential.

This post will remain on our page as a public record. It gives everyone who has made these allegations an equal opportunity to substantiate them. If no evidence is produced, drivers and the public can draw their own conclusions based on facts rather than rumours.

OCDNKE welcomes constructive criticism, tough questions, and accountability. What we will not accept is the continued publication of false or defamatory allegations presented as fact without evidence.

"Collecting money from drivers is theft."
That single comment explains why online cab drivers in Kenya have struggled to unite for years.

Let's be honest.
Many drivers have genuine trust issues. In the past, some organizations that promised to fight for drivers lost credibility because a few individuals allegedly put personal interests ahead of the people they were meant to serve. Those experiences left deep scars, and today every new initiative is quickly labelled:

❌ "Scam."
❌ "Wezi."
❌ "Mchezo wa town."

Those concerns should not be ignored. They should remind us why transparency and accountability matter.

But here's the bigger question:
How long will we allow yesterday's mistakes to stop us from solving today's problems?

Every day drivers complain about:
- Low fares.
- High app commissions.
- Unfair deactivations.
- Rising fuel and maintenance costs.
- Lack of welfare and representation.

Yet when drivers are called to organize, many choose suspicion over participation.

If every genuine effort is dismissed before it begins, who benefits?

Certainly not the drivers.
The truth is simple:
No Ministry will build driver unity for us.
No politician will fight our daily battles for us.
No ride-hailing app will voluntarily protect drivers' interests.

The future of online cab drivers depends on online cab drivers.

The lesson from the past is not that drivers should never organize. The lesson is that we must build organizations differently... with transparent leadership, open financial records, member oversight, clear constitutions, and leaders who are accountable to the people they serve.

Trust is not demanded.

Trust is earned through actions, transparency, and consistency.

Instead of asking, "Who can we blame?"

When drivers work to register an organization... "Quit."

But here's the question:

If every driver quits, who will fight for better conditions?

Who will speak when commissions change?
Who will stand up for fair treatment?
Who will support drivers in times of need?

The truth is simple: discouraging unity only benefits those who prefer drivers to remain divided and powerless.

It's always interesting how some people laugh at unity until the day they need it.

Nobody has ever said drivers should not open bank accounts or join Saccos. In fact, we encourage financial discipline. But let's not pretend that a bank account can negotiate fair fares, challenge unfair policies, or protect drivers from exploitation.

If individual solutions were enough, why are so many drivers still struggling despite having bank accounts, Saccos, and years of hard work?

The truth is simple: organized drivers have a stronger voice than isolated drivers.

Everyone is free to disagree with OCDNKE. But dismissing every effort to unite drivers without offering a better collective solution only keeps the industry exactly where it is.

We'll keep building. We'll keep organizing. We'll keep speaking for drivers who believe the industry can be better.

CAB DRIVERS, IT'S TIME TO FACE THE TRUTH.

This post may not be popular, but it is a conversation we must have.

If you're still waiting for online ride-hailing apps to improve fares or working conditions, ask yourself one question:

How many years have we been raising the same concerns?

We have voiced our frustrations to the apps.
We have engaged government institutions.
We have appealed to regulators.
We have even sought the attention of the country's leadership.

Yet many drivers still feel they are carrying the same burdens... if not more.

Today, many drivers say they face:
Low-paying trips despite rising operating costs.
Long pickup distances that are often not worthwhile.
Account suspensions while complaints are being reviewed.
Constant pressure to maintain ratings, driver scores, and acceptance rates.
New policies and terms that many feel are introduced without meaningful driver consultation.

The reality is that the apps are businesses. Their priority is to grow their platforms and serve their customers. Drivers, on the other hand, must organize themselves to protect their own interests.

As our senior captain in OCDNKE, Mr. Jacks, often says:

Perhaps that doesn't simply mean abandoning the apps. It means abandoning the mindset that the apps alone will solve our problems.

The biggest question is this:
If not us, then who will fight for online cab drivers?

Let's remember:
We are the ones who provide the service.

We are the ones who generate the commissions that keep these platforms operating.
Yet because we are divided, we remain easy to replace, easy to suspend, and easy to ignore.

Our biggest weakness is not the apps.
Our biggest weakness is our lack of unity.

Imagine what could happen if online cab drivers across Kenya spoke with one voice.
Imagine if we had strong welfare systems.
Imagine if every driver had legal support, emergency support, and representation.

Imagine if we invested as much energy in building our own institutions as we do in waiting for others to change.

A TRAGIC INCIDENT THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED

The tragic incident that occurred along Mombasa Road near Nyayo Stadium has deeply saddened many Kenyans, especially members of the online cab driving community.

Based on CCTV footage circulating publicly, it appears that what began as a minor road traffic collision quickly escalated into a confrontation involving several people. The footage appears to show the taxi driver recording the incident before being approached by a group from the other vehicle. The events that followed ended in the tragic loss of a life. The full facts and any criminal responsibility should be determined through the ongoing police investigation and the courts.

As Online Cab Drivers Network Kenya (OCDNKE), we extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We also condemn all forms of violence. No disagreement on our roads should ever end in injury or loss of life.

At the same time, this incident highlights the reality that many online cab drivers face every day. Drivers work under immense pressure, including long hours, financial strain, safety concerns, difficult interactions with some passengers and road users, and limited platforms to air their grievances. Every successful movement faces challenges. What matters is not how many times we are delayed, but how determined we are to keep moving forward.

Our attempt to register Online Cab Drivers Network KE (OCDNKE) as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) did not proceed as planned. Instead of giving up, we have chosen a new path... one that keeps our vision alive and brings us closer to our goal.

We are now proposing to register as:

ONLINE CAB DRIVERS NETWORK SELF HELP GROUP

This is more than just a name. It is the beginning of a stronger, united, and legally recognized organization that will champion the welfare, unity, and professional growth of online cab drivers across Kenya.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS!
The proposed name is not final. Every member has a right to contribute. If you have a better name, a suggestion, or any concern, please share it with the leadership. We want every driver to feel represented because OCDNKE belongs to all of us.

Over the coming days, we will begin preparing the registration documents, constitution, membership records, and other legal requirements needed to officially establish our organization.
