😷 THE TRAFFIC POLICE MASK: COVID… OR THE CORRUPTION VIRUS? 😂

There is something I have been noticing on our roads lately, and I need to know whether I am the only one seeing it.

Our traffic police officers seem to be wearing masks A LOT these days. 😷

Now, I am not a doctor, so I don't know whether COVID is still making rounds in the Police Service, or whether we have discovered a new Kenyan strain called the corruption virus. 😂

But it got me thinking…

Maybe there is actually a serious health reason.

These officers spend hours standing at busy junctions, breathing dust, exhaust fumes and whatever Nairobi decides to throw into the atmosphere that particular day.

If that's the reason, then honestly, they probably need proper protective masks, not those things that look like they were bought in bulk because somebody discovered a tender opportunity. 😂

Speaking of which…

WHO HAS THE TENDER TO SUPPLY THE TRAFFIC POLICE WITH THESE MASKS? 👀

Because the police budget is famously stretched. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually discover that these are government-issued masks with a 47-page procurement process, three committees, five signatures and a price tag that could buy a boda boda. 😂

But then I noticed something else.

Have you ever really looked at the traffic police cap?

I don't mean the beret.

I mean that specific traffic officer cap.

Because I have a theory.

That thing might have been designed to conceal identity while simultaneously announcing authority. 😂

Think about it.

The officer is in uniform.

Cap on.

Mask on.

Possibly sunglasses.

You obey the hand signal immediately.

But let that same officer finish his shift, remove the mask, remove the cap, change clothes and walk into your neighbourhood…

You will NEVER know that is the same person. 😂

Unless, of course, you meet him at your local pub paying for beer with 50-shilling notes and 100s.

Then you start connecting the dots. 😭😂

But seriously, jokes aside, if the masks are because of dust, pollution and exhaust exposure, then maybe somebody needs to look into the health conditions of these officers.

They spend entire shifts standing literally in the middle of traffic.

If mechanics need protection from fumes, what about the person spending eight hours directing those fumes?

So I am genuinely curious.

Traffic officers — why the masks?

Is it health?

Dust?

Exhaust fumes?

COVID?

Security?

Or is there another reason the public hasn't been told?

And before the comment section becomes a crime scene…

DISCLAIMER: I am JUST making an observation. 😂

I am not inviting any Subarus in my area.

No mysterious men arriving to ask me, “Kichana, you have a problem with traffic police?” 😭😂

I am simply observing what I see on the road.

The next post I make will be about the rungus.

So let us deal with the masks peacefully first. 😂

Now, traffic officers and fellow road users — what have YOU noticed?

🚦 MAYBE BEFORE WE TEACH THEM HOW TO SWITCH ON THE LIGHTS… WE SHOULD TEACH THEM WHAT THE RED LIGHT MEANS. 😂

A video of a fellow rider training a newbie on an electric bike recently went viral. He was teaching him how to operate the app, accept jobs, and even how to switch on the bike's lights when evening comes.

It was funny… until I remembered this video. 👇

Watch carefully.

This rider reaches a busy crossroads controlled by traffic lights.

The light is RED. 🚦

He doesn't stop.

He doesn't slow down.

He doesn't even appear to have a brief meeting with the brakes.

He just goes straight through. 💀

And seconds later, the crossroads gives him a practical lesson in road safety. 💥

Now, I genuinely don't know whether to call that negligence or lack of knowledge.

Because lately, I've come across an alarming number of accidents involving electric-bike riders. And sometimes, the person who suffers isn't even the rider—it's an innocent customer sitting behind them.

Maybe the problem isn't electric bikes.

Maybe it's how quickly we're putting inexperienced riders onto busy roads.

Because knowing how to operate the app is one thing.

Knowing how to switch on your headlights is another.

But knowing when to STOP before a red light?

That one might be slightly more important. 😂

🎥 WATCH THE VIDEO AND TELL ME:

Was this rider reckless, badly trained, or do we genuinely have riders entering the industry without understanding the most basic traffic rules?

Electric-bike riders, I want your honest opinion on this one. 👇

Riding a boda is one skill. Tying a load on it is a whole different exam. 😂🏍️

With new riders joining the industry every day, this is one skill many are yet to master.

Today, while driving, I noticed a rider ahead carrying a load that had settled sideways. The rider was also sitting sideways in the opposite direction just to counter the load’s force. You could see he was uncomfortable.

Dear rider, if you accept that big-load trip, take your time. Tie it properly. Use strong, long elastic ropes and, if necessary, ask a fellow rider for help.

Before moving, sit on the bike and test the balance. If the bike and load don't feel balanced, don't ride. Fix it first.

You’re not transporting a load—you’re negotiating with physics. 😂

A bad tie can mean damaged goods, a damaged bike, or a damaged rider.

Experienced riders, what’s the worst load-tying mistake you’ve seen? 👇🏿

🎥 NOW WATCH THE CCTV… 👀

This is the footage behind the Mwea bike alert I’ve just posted.

First, the man is seen messing around with some wiring on the motorcycle… then he eventually gets on the bike and rides away into the night.

Now, before the Facebook detectives put on their uniforms 😂😂, watch it carefully and make your own observations.

Is he stealing it?

Is he trying to start it?

Or are we missing an entire chapter of this story? 👀

I honestly don't know — and that's the problem.

For the full story, including why I’m treating this alleged theft with a little caution, refer to the previous post I’ve just made.

Then come back here and tell me what YOU see in this CCTV. 👇🏿😂

🚨🚨 MWEA! BIKE STOLEN AT NIGHT? 🚨🚨

This one landed in my inbox and, for a moment, I was ready to hit POST immediately.

A follower sent me photos of a motorcycle and CCTV footage allegedly showing a man taking it from outside a restaurant in Mwea at night.

The CCTV is there(*Check the first comment).
The bike is there.
A man is there.
And the whole thing looks like a proper theft alert. 👀

So naturally, before putting someone's face on my page, I asked:

“OB number?”

Because if the bike was genuinely reported stolen, there should be a police report.

Instead, I got…

an Airtel number. 😂

Before Airtel users start feeling attacked, relax. 😂
The Airtel number isn't the suspicious part.

The suspicious part is that I asked for the person's details, then specifically asked for the OB number…

and that question was mysteriously left unanswered. 🦗

So now I'm caught between:

“Help this person find their stolen bike.”

and

“Bro, help me verify that this bike was actually stolen first.” 😂

I'm still sharing the bike photos and CCTV footage, but I'm NOT calling the man in the footage a thief.

For now, it's an ALLEGED theft.

👉🏿 If you are the actual owner, identify yourself in the comments and leave a safe way for anyone with information to reach you. I will PIN your comment.

If you have the OB number, even better.

And if you recognise the bike or know what happened, pass the information to the owner or police.

Because sometimes CCTV gives you the whole story.

And sometimes it gives you just enough of the story to make you confident… and not enough to be certain. 👀

So, Facebook detectives, what's your verdict?

Would you share this as a stolen-bike alert with the information I was given, or would you also demand the OB number first?

Let's hear the comments. 👇🏿😂

*Inbox Clinic*

My inbox has quietly become a motorbike clinic. 😂🏍️

You people send me questions about bikes, riding and mechanics expecting me to have answers to everything. I don’t. 😂

So from now on, I’ll post some of the interesting questions here — with personal details hidden — and let the experts in this community handle them in the comments.

Somebody has already asked:

“How long does it take for someone who rides a bicycle to learn how to ride a motorbike?” 😂😂

I’m not touching that one.

Cyclists, riders, instructors and keyboard experts… educate us. 👇🏿😂

🩴🏍️ DEAR FLIP-FLOP RIDERS, THE TARMAC IS WATCHING YOU. 😂

There is a new breed of Mtu Wa Nduthi in town.

Helmet on.
Bike polished.
Engine sounding like a generator at a wedding. 😂
And on the feet… FLIP-FLOPS. 🩴😭

You are riding through Nairobi traffic looking like you were sent to buy bread from the shop but somehow ended up delivering parcels for HEHA MOVERS to Jupiter. 😂

And some of you are actually proud of the look!

If you're bold enough to match your flip-flops with your boda, please complete the uniform. Remove the trousers, tie a towel around your waist and let us know you're officially on your way to the bathroom. 😂😂😂

But jokes aside, this thing is dangerous.

Tarmac doesn't care about your fashion sense.

Tarmac feeds on meat. Human meat.

And every time you expose your feet, ankles, knees and hands to it, you're basically walking into a butcher shop and telling the butcher:

«“Leo niko fresh.” 😭😂»

The worst part?

Some riders will spend thousands making their bikes look good but won't spend a few hundred on proper riding shoes.

Bike protection: 10/10.
Rider protection: “God will protect me.” 😂

Bro… God gave you a brain. Use it before you need a miracle.

A small slide can turn those fashionable flip-flops into a lifetime memory.

So, riders, let's debate this:

👇 Are flip-flops on a boda actually “cool”… or are we just normalising stupidity?

And if you're a flip-flop rider, don't be shy. Identify yourself in the comments. 🩴😂
