The French naturalist and explorer Henri Mouhot is credited with bringing Angkor Wat to the attention of the Western world in 1860. However, the temple was never truly lost, as local Khmer people had continuously lived near, used, and maintained the site for centuries.

Preah Palilay is a Buddhist temple at Angkor, Cambodia. It is located in Angkor Thom, 400 m north-west of Phimeanakas. This small Buddhist sanctuary in the wooded area north of the Royal palace in Angkor Thom has a number of attractive features and is well worth the short detour.

This is a season for those who love taking pictures and making videos. I recommend all tourists should come and enjoy this green season in Cambodia.

The green season (rainy season) runs from May to October, a season when Cambodians begin to cultivate rice fields and plant crops.

It is a time when tourists should come and enjoy this beautiful season.

Tourists can get a wonderful experience. Come and visit many beauty ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples that are nearly a thousand years old. And clearly understood the daily life, work, and activities of the rural people in the area. Such as monks giving alms, nuns going to the temple, people going to the market to sell and buy, children going to school, people going to work in the fields and planting various crops and going fishing, street vending, and other food production in the area, etc.

All of these are activities where you can explore the green season (rainy season).

This is a season for those who love taking pictures and making videos.

I recommend all tourists should come and enjoy this green season in Cambodia.

In addition to Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world, and the famous Ta Prohm Temple, with its 300-year-old tree-topped structure and famous for its Tomb Raider temple, there is the magnificent Bayon Temple, famous for its smiling face, located in the center of the ancient city of Angkor Thom during the golden age of the Khmer Empire in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

You can spend more time learning about stone and wood carving, silk weaving, and other paintings. Especially learning about Theravada Buddhism, the real life of the Buddha before his enlightenment, and the current disciples, called monks, who live in monasteries. And you will try street food and the food that local Khmer people like to eat the most, especially fried insects, and so on.

Good morning, everyone, from Cambodia.

How are you all doing? I hope you are all well.

This month, on 14th April at 10.48 am, Khmer New Year, or Maha Songkran, old year 2569, new year 2570.

It's Cambodian New Year season. Which lasts 3 days, 14, 15, and 16 April 2026.

We usually celebrate the New Year at JB School with all the students and all our teachers coming along, along with our students' parents. And there are many folk games, traditional singing and dancing, etc.

We will celebrate the traditional Khmer New Year before New Year's Day arrives, on the 10th of April 2026.

We invite everyone to join us. To make the program more lively and happy, with smiles and hope for the children.

We wish you all the best, good luck, good health, success, happiness, and safe travels.

Happy Khmer New Year

The Khmer Empire was a Hindu-Buddhist empire in Southeast Asia, centered around hydraulic cities in what is now northern Cambodia. Known as Kambuja (Old Khmer) by its inhabitants, it grew out of the former civilization of Chenla and lasted from 802 to 1431.

Historians call this period of Cambodian history the Angkor period, after the empire's most well-known capital, Angkor.

The Khmer Empire ruled or vassalized most of mainland Southeast Asia. Rich, powerful, and glorious during that time.

Warm greetings from Cambodia. I hope you and your family are doing well. As we approach the end of 2025, I would also like to extend my warmest seasonal greetings to you and your loved ones.

I’m writing to share an update about JB School and to reach out for your support as our community moves through an important period of development. As you may know, the government recently completed a new road through our village. This project has brought many positive changes for local families—safer travel during the rainy season, easier access to markets and health services, and shorter transport times for students attending public school in nearby areas. The road has already helped the community feel more connected and opened new opportunities for work and trade that were previously difficult to reach.

As part of the planned construction, two of our JB School classrooms had to be removed to make way for the road. While we welcome the wider benefits this infrastructure provides, the loss of these classrooms has placed significant strain on our teaching space. With more than 400 children attending JB School every day for their English and computer lessons, rebuilding these classrooms is essential if we are to continue providing a safe, accessible, and effective learning environment.

For many of our students, this free education is their only opportunity to learn English and computer skills. These are the skills that open doors: to jobs in tourism, to higher education, and to opportunities that can lift entire families out of poverty. JB School gives young people a sense of possibility and confidence in their future, and your support plays an important role in sustaining that hope.

Alongside the rebuilding effort, we continue to operate on a monthly budget of USD 1,500, which covers teacher salaries, utilities, and essential learning materials. Meeting this amount each month remains a challenge, and your contribution—whether toward our operating costs or the classroom reconstruction—would make an immediate and meaningful difference.

I will keep you updated on our progress and on the work your support makes possible. Thank you once again for your kindness and for being part of the JB School community. I wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a happy, healthy start to 2026.

14/08/2025

The Tonle Sap Lake is the largest lake in Asia, with a length of 250km and a width of 100km during the rainy season. And 160km long and 35km wide in the dry season. The Tonle Sap Lake covers 12% of the total land area of Cambodia during the rainy season, which is called the heart of Cambodia.

The Tonle Sap Lake has supported the livelihoods of more than 3 million Cambodians living around it.

Here it has become a second place of interest for national and international tourists to see the lives of real Cambodians, fishing, floating villages, and stilt houses built about 7 meters to 12 meters high. What is even more special is to take a boat trip to explore the mangrove forest, see the lake, etc.
