In the late 1800s, he came to Sri Lanka and bought tea estates in Haputale, especially the **Dambatenne Tea Estate**. From this exact spot, he used to sit and watch over his vast tea plantations, making plans for his business. That is why people started calling this place *Lipton’s Seat*.
