Hudha Sri Lanka 🇱🇰*URGENT CASE STUDY IV : HELP FATHIM'S FAMILY BUILD A HOME*

*Status: Living in Polythene & Zinc Sheet Shelter*

*1. WHO IS FATHIM?*
Fathim is living with her family in a *polythene-covered house* like the one in this photo.

For years, they have called this small shelter home. The walls are made of old zinc sheets tied with rope. The front is covered with black polythene. The roof is patched with blue sheets.

*2. THEIR DAILY STRUGGLE*
Just imagine living here:
- *When it rains*: Polythene leaks, water floods inside, children sleep wet
- *When it’s sunny*: The zinc turns the house into an oven. Too hot to sit
- *When it’s windy*: They fear the whole shelter will blow away
- *At night*: No security, mosquitoes, and cold air come straight in

Fathim’s family earns through daily labor. After buying food, there is nothing left to save for a house. They applied for housing aid but are still waiting.

*3. WHY WE MUST ACT NOW*
No child should do homework under polythene.
No mother should cook in fear of the roof falling.
No family should live without dignity.With monsoon season coming, this shelter will not survive.

*4. OUR GOAL: BUILD FATHIM A PERMANENT HOME*
We are raising funds to build Fathim’s family a *20ft x 25ft permanent house*.

*New House Will Include:*
- *2 Bedrooms + Living Room + Kitchen + Toilet*

*1. FAMILY OVERVIEW*
*FAM I - Name of Head*: Seyyadu Muhammadhu Alabdeen
*Family Members*: 3 - Husband, Wife, and School-going Son

*FAM - II Name Of Head* : Abdul Kareem ,
Family Memebers : 2

*Current Situation*: Living in a house made entirely of coconut leaves and sticks

This family has been living in extremely poor conditions with no proper shelter. The house you see in the photo offers no protection from rain, wind, or extreme heat.

*2. THE PROBLEM*
Their current home is:
- *Unsafe*: Made of coconut leaves and palm thatch. It leaks during rain and is at risk of collapsing
- *Unhealthy*: Dirt floor, no proper walls, exposure to insects and weather
- *Undignified*: A family of 3 including an elderly person and a student have no privacy, kitchen, or toilet
- *Vulnerable*: During monsoon and storms, their lives are in danger

Despite working hard, Mr. Alabdeen does not have enough income to build even a basic permanent house. They have no savings and no government support yet.

*3. THE IMPACT*
Because of this situation:
1. The son’s education is affected - no proper place to study at night
2. Health risks are high - especially for the elderly parents during rain and cold
3. Daily life is a struggle - cooking, sleeping, and staying safe is difficult

Every night they sleep in fear that the roof will fall or rain will come in.

*4. THE SOLUTION: A PERMANENT HOME*
We are raising funds to build a *simple 2-room permanent house* with cement, bricks, roof, toilet, and electricity connection for this family.

This will give them: Safety, Dignity, Health, and a place to call "home"
