And just like that our time in the USA was over 😩🇺🇸

I cannot put into words how special this time has been travelling around with my Dad ❤️ ⁣
Not only have we seen some amazing places and created some special memories, but we have had two and a half weeks of together which no one can take away from us. ⁣
⁣
I know am so lucky to still have my dad around and even luckier that he wants to spend time travelling around with me ❤️ ⁣

Thank you Dad for so many laughs and fun along the way and for being such a good sport on my stories. You are one in a billion and I love you more than words can say ❤️⁣

Everyone tried to prepare me for the yet no one could prepare me for just how breathtaking it actually was 😍⁣

When planning our train route around the USA there was one place we couldn’t get to by rail: baby! So we hopped on the short flight from LAX to Las Vegas so we could continue on by bus to the Grand Canyon 😍 ⁣

Las Vegas airport used to only be domestic but now welcomes international flights from all over the place and if the number of planes in the sky is anything to go by, it is already a popular destination 👍🏼 ⁣

You can’t come to San Francisco and not visit this iconic structure! We were so lucky to see it on a sunny day with hardly a cloud in the sky too! ⁣

The was finished in 1937 and has been a part of the city ever since! The bridge spans 2737 metres joining the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County and did you know it has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers?! ⁣

We did just that on our recent visit to where we learned that the historic and iconic cable cars weren’t running whilst we there 😩 ⁣
Perhaps many of you think this is not such a hardship, but for an avid train and transport fan like my Dad, this was pretty bad news!!! ⁣

Nevertheless we made the absolute most of our short time in the city and explored as many corners as possible including this incredibly bright street near and ⁣

San Francisco is vibrant and bright with a vibe that keeps you cheery and fresh! No wonder so many great ideas like were born here! ⁣

We had no idea what to expect from and it certainly exceeded expectations 😊
With just 24 hours to see as much as possible, we first headed to Temple Square where you can visit pretty much every building there except the temple. We spent way more time there then expected and took every possible tour including taking some time tracing Dad’s family tree back to as early as the mid 1500s thanks to ⁣
⁣
Our tour of Salt Lake City continued to the disused but beautiful station building, the modern Gateway shopping area and the stunning Capitol building where we were lucky enough to see some action and courts in session. ⁣
⁣
Our journey continues on the to next but Salt Lake City has certainly left a lasting and positive impression on us ⁣

24 hours in Denver was not enough to see what this state capital has to offer.⁣
Known as the “Mile High City” for It’s height above sea level, Denver has a lot to offer in both sunshine ☀️ and snow ❄️ ⁣
We stopped off here on our way from Chicago to San Francisco on the train and it was well worth the visit! ⁣

It was inspired from all the forehead prints on the windows from people trying to see further down and so was constructed using three layers of half-inch glass to give us what we see today.⁣

The tower was the world’s tallest building until 1998 and now standing tall at just place 12! Nevertheless it is impressive, and on a clear day you can see for miles so it is worth a visit if you have the time 🏙 ⁣Special mention to the spectacular in the shot 😜😎

If a person takes a trip and doesn’t post about it on Instagram, did it actually happen? ⁣
⁣
I’ve been toying with my own answers to this question for some months now which has probably been apparent by my absence from this platform 😳 Truth be told, I needed it. And I needed my most recent trip with my father to the USA to be about more than just the perfect photo. ⁣
⁣
So I turned off and focussed on US having the most epic ever! I am so lucky to have a dad still, not only that but one who wants to travel with me and can actually tolerate me for two and a half weeks in very close quarters! ⁣
⁣
Out first stop was the and we had no idea what to expect! The water here is turquoise and looks great set against the towering skyscrapers. We walked for hours exploring and finally jumped on a river taxi where I took this shot 👍🏼 ⁣

What’s the best way to travel around Scotland? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⁣

I tried out two methods and loved them both: ⁣
⁣
1. Circular road trip around the South. This was great for seeing as many places as possible in a short space of time, but did require packing every day to move onto the next destination. ⁣
⁣
2. Staying a whole week in Rogart (North) and doing day trips. No packing required so perhaps a more relaxed approach, but you do have to drive each stretch twice to get back to your accommodation. ⁣
⁣
Perhaps the ideal is renting a or to get around instead?⁣
⁣
Whatever you choose, Scotland is well worth a visit! ⁣
⁣
