I’ll be honest with you: Chichén Itzá is stunning even if you’ve seen a thousand photos. It still gets you in person.

But my favorite part of this route is Uayma. Nobody expects it. Nobody forgets it.

And the cenote at the end? That’s your reward for walking under the Yucatan sun.

This beautiful church isn’t just another colonial building. The Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán was originally built in the 17th century, but it was burned during the Caste War of Yucatán.
What you see today is a stunning reconstruction, decorated with colorful floral and geometric patterns that make it one of the most unique churches in all of Mexico.
