United Airlines has been getting a lot of press lately after announcing its 2027 new routes and creating a stir. Usually these announcements are ho-hum, just more capacity heading to London or Cancun, but this one was different because it shows how traveler tastes are changing. The new direct routes from the USA include places like Toulouse, Marseille, Valencia, Terceira (Azores), Ljubljana, and Catania, as well as Okinawa in Japan.

“Eight of the 10 will have no competing nonstop service by another U.S. airline.”

As a cost-conscious traveler, this will help you bypass the bigger airports that often have higher taxes as well offer direct services to some more affordable cities in expensive countries.

🇹🇭 Planning a Trip to Thailand? Major Visa-Free Entry Rules Just Changed!

If Southeast Asia is on your travel radar, or if you’re heading to Thailand soon, make sure you're up to speed on the latest entry requirements!

✈️Thailand has officially updated its entry policy, transitioning away from the generous temporary 60-day visa-free stays and introducing a newly restructured entry system:

🗓️ 30-Day Visa Exemption: Travelers from 60 countries (including the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia) now receive an initial 30-day visa-free stay upon arrival.

🎟️ Tourism Focus: The exemption specifically applies to tourist arrivals. Need more time? You can still apply for a standard 30-day extension at local immigration offices in-country if you want to stretch your stay.

🚗 Land Border Caps: Entering via overland border crossings under the visa exemption is now capped at twice per calendar year for most nationalities.

This update is especially timely for us since we’ll be touching down in Thailand next month as part of our current trip around Southeast Asia! As always, keeping tabs on shifting travel logistics ensures smooth border crossings and zero surprises at immigration.
