Some of you may have heard about the SLO process going on around Pyalong, Tooborac and Tallarook.
To go to a future meeting of Mitchell Shire Council, a Significant Landscape Overlay is scheduled to impact hundreds of landowners, mostly farmers, across properties around our local area.
The town areas are not affected, primarily Farming Zone.
This is NOT a farmer driven process, it is being imposed on ratepayers because of a consultant report costing hundreds of thousands of dollars that says its needed.
It prevents farmers from using their land the same way as their neighbour, because mostly they have some granite rocks on their land, and are in view of the roads so are deemed "signficant" and in need of protection FROM farmers. It will also affect farm values.
Many respected Mitchell Shire farming families are affected, and need our support. Please visit the new website created by a Tallarook farm landholder to help fight this upcoming decision for all threatened landholders. It may not be you this time, but your property could be next.
Please check if you are affected as well, not all landholders received the initial letter or made it to the drop in sessions. Some are just finding out their property is impacted.

Mitchell Shire Council has proposed Significant Landscape Overlays (SLOs) that will drastically impact farming operations.
