Following the Instagram post made concerning the situation in Bille Kingdom, we believe it is important to properly place the conversation where it belongs.

First, we acknowledge that our sister remains our sister. In the long struggle for the development of the Niger Delta, every sincere voice matters. Every cry for justice, clean water, safer communities, environmental protection, and better living conditions for our people deserves to be heard.

But we must also say this clearly.

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗴𝗯𝘂𝗸𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲.

It will not restore the livelihood of fishermen.
It will not stop environmental degradation.
It will not bring emergency response faster.
It will not improve the daily reality of families living through this pain.

The people of Bille Kingdom deserve attention, dignity, urgent intervention, and solution-driven engagement. That is the real issue, and that is where the conversation must remain.

There are agencies and institutions with direct responsibility for environmental pollution, oil-related degradation, remediation, emergency response, and community safety. Those agencies must be called upon to act with urgency, transparency, and responsibility.

At the same time, it is unfair to reduce the work of the Niger Delta Development Commission under Dr Samuel Ogbuku to personal attacks or emotional misrepresentation.

Under his leadership, the NDDC has continued to pursue regional development through infrastructure, human capital investment, community-focused interventions, and projects aimed at improving the lives of Niger Delta people.

That truth should not be lost in anger.

We can stand with Bille without attacking our own.
We can demand action without destroying character.
We can call for intervention without turning pain into personal insult.

𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

For the students of Imo State University, this is more than solar street lights.

It is safety.
It is movement.
It is peace of mind.
It is a better campus environment.

A few years ago, this project was still at the commencement stage. Today, the poles have been mounted, the streets are shining, and the students can feel the impact directly.

The Aladinma Alliance area that once had serious concerns around darkness and insecurity is now wearing a new look. Students are happier, movement is easier, and the environment feels safer.

This is what development should look like: 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.

We congratulate the students of Imo State University, the Student Union Government, and the entire campus community for this important intervention attracted for the benefit of students.

We also appreciate the Niger Delta Development Commission for listening, responding, and delivering a project that will continue to improve security and student life around Aladinma Alliance, with extension toward Okwurratta Student Alliance and other strategic areas.

Under the leadership of Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, the message remains clear: development must touch lives, improve communities, and give young people a better environment to live, learn, and grow.

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱. 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱.

Michael Nkwocha did not just participate in the 2026/2027 NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.

He stood out.

With an outstanding score of 𝟰𝟵/𝟱𝟬 in the Computer-Based Test, he emerged as the second-highest performing candidate in the exercise.

But beyond the score, Michael’s testimony speaks to something bigger: 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁.

For the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, the NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is not just about sending young people abroad.

On 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, handed over residential accommodation and support facilities to the 𝟭𝟲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆 at its base in 𝗔𝘆𝗮𝗺𝗮-𝗢𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗮, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The MD/CEO of the NDDC, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗴𝗯𝘂𝗸𝘂, was represented at the handover by the 𝗡𝗗𝗗𝗖 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗮.

Receiving the project on behalf of the Nigerian Army was 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗛.𝗠. 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱, Acting Garrison Commander of the 16 Brigade. Also present were NDDC officials and members of the 16 Brigade, who inspected the facilities before the formal signing of the handover documents.

The facilities include a two-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, four one-bedroom bungalows, a ten-unit self-contained accommodation block, a generator house, a 100KVA generating set and a borehole.

But beyond the structures, this project speaks to the kind of leadership Dr. Samuel Ogbuku represents.

A leadership that understands that 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀, 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 can only thrive where there is peace.

A leadership that sees security agencies not as outsiders, but as partners in protecting lives, communities and economic activities across the Niger Delta.

𝗗𝗿. 𝗢𝗴𝗯𝘂𝗸𝘂’𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲.

By improving the welfare of soldiers at the 16 Brigade, the NDDC is helping to strengthen security presence, improve response capacity and create a safer environment for families, traders, farmers, businesses and investors in Bayelsa.

This is the kind of development that thinks beyond today and prepares the region for a safer, stronger and more economically stable future.

BAYELSA CULTURE COMMISSIONER CONGRATULATES DR. SAMUEL OGBUKU ON EMERGENCE AS DAUFA VI OF AYAKORO COMMUNITY.

The Bayelsa State Honourable Commissioner for Culture, Hon. Keku Godpower, has congratulated Dr. Samuel Ogbuku on his emergence as the Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community, where he will reign under the revered traditional title of Daufa VI.

In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Hon. Keku described Dr. Ogbuku’s elevation to the throne as a well-deserved recognition of his years of selfless service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of the Ayakoro people.

The Commissioner noted that the confidence reposed in Dr. Ogbuku by the people of Ayakoro reflects the trust, respect, and admiration he has earned through his distinguished contributions to community growth and societal advancement.

According to Hon. Keku, the emergence of Dr. Ogbuku as Paramount Ruler comes at a crucial period in the history of the community and represents a strong endorsement of his capacity to provide purposeful leadership anchored on wisdom, integrity, and compassion.

He expressed confidence that Ayakoro Community would witness greater peace, unity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development under the reign of Daufa VI.

The Commissioner also extended his congratulations to Chief Micha Itekesi on his emergence as the Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community, wishing him a successful tenure in supporting the traditional institution and the overall progress of the kingdom.

Hon. Keku further emphasized the vital role traditional rulers play as custodians of cultural heritage, noting that they remain instrumental in promoting peace, preserving customs and traditions, and fostering harmonious coexistence among communities.

Today, we celebrate a moment that speaks beyond title, beyond position, and beyond public office.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟮 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Yes, the 1993 election may have recorded one of the lower voter turnouts, at about 35%. But beyond the numbers, it carried something bigger: 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆.

It was the election where Nigerians stood beyond ethnicity, religion, region, and sentiment to choose the person they believed should lead them.

That was the beauty of June 12.

It showed us that when Nigerians truly decide to rise as one people, no division is stronger than the will of the people.

June 12 was when our mandate stood tall.

It was when ordinary Nigerians proved that power has always belonged to the people.

But sadly, the personal interest of a few men in khaki chose otherwise. They tried to bury the mandate, but they could not bury the meaning.

Because June 12 did not die.

It became a symbol.

A reminder that democracy is not a gift from those in power. It is a right owned by the people.

As we mark Democracy Day, may we never forget that our power has always been with us, and will always remain with us.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗶 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗯𝗲

Today, we celebrate a man whose life speaks clearly of grace, discipline, capacity and purposeful service.

Chief Timi Alaibe’s journey is not just a story of politics or public office. It is a story of preparation meeting opportunity. A story of a man who rose through competence, courage and commitment to become one of the strong names in the development history of the Niger Delta.

His years at the 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 remain a very important part of the Commission’s early foundation. From serving as 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, to becoming 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿/𝗖𝗘𝗢 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗗𝗗𝗖, he helped shape conversations around structure, planning, infrastructure, youth development, financial responsibility and regional growth.

Beyond the NDDC, his involvement in the Presidential Amnesty process also showed something deeper about his leadership philosophy: that peace, dialogue and opportunity can achieve what violence can never build.

That is the kind of leadership that leaves a mark.

Not noise.
Not entitlement.
Not empty presence.

But service that people can point to and remember.

On this special day, we pray that God will continue to bless Chief Timi Alaibe with good health, peace of mind, renewed strength and greater honour.

May his years ahead be filled with wisdom, joy, family warmth and the quiet fulfilment that comes from knowing that his name already has a place in the development story of the Niger Delta.
