Plastics and trash floating down canals and rivers is an ever growing problem we face. The challenge is how to capture the trash without disrupting marine life and shipping vessels. The Great Bubble Barrier has a solution: a barrier made out of bubbles which prevents plastics and trash from flowing down the river! By utilising a river's current, a strategically placed Bubble Barrier provides sufficient resistance to direct trash to shore where it can be collected and removed. Wie is verantwoordelijk voor plasticvervuiling in onze rivieren?

Onze collega's Danielle en Annemiek stellen deze vraag morgen tijdens het VNG Jaarcongres, hét jaarlijkse event voor gemeenten in Nederland.

Iedereen is het erover eens: plastic hoort niet in het water. Maar wie is verantwoordelijk voor het opruimen? Gemeenten, waterschappen, provincies of de Rijkswaterstaat?

We've gone analogue, trading our phones for a film camera to capture the real behind-the-scenes moments as a team.

Tackling plastic pollution is hard work. But why shouldn't it be fun too?

Our office is located at , Amsterdam's innovation district right on the water. It's the perfect spot for us: close enough to the water to test our technology, and just as good for lunch breaks in the sun (with the occasional visit from Sherlock, our part-time office dog).

Ben jij tussen de 8 en 14 jaar en wil jij zien hoe krachtig bubbels onder water kunnen zijn? Schrijf je dan in voor een tour van onze Bubble Barrier in Amsterdam! Hier geleiden bubbels in het water plastic naar een afvangssysteem waar het vervolgens uit het water wordt gehaald. Zo blijft Amsterdam mooi schoon.

The past few weeks at The Great Bubble Barrier® have been a good mix of teamwork, strategy, and a little bit of fun. 💙 💪

With a love for water and a healthy level of competitiveness, we completed a ‘sloepenrace’ in Haarlem. The weather had other ideas, but we embraced it, got our hands dirty, and had a great time.

Back at the office, we dived into strategic planning and spent a day with our team coach, Maarten Stenvers, to prepare for a busy second quarter. Lunches were taken outside, picnic-style, and we may have got a little creative with our tosti set-up.

Whatever the rest of the year brings, we are ready to tackle it with this competitive and innovative team.
