Preparedness and teamwork in action.

KOTUG Bahamas recently participated in Buckeye Bahamas Hub’s annual offshore oil spill response drill in Freeport, Grand Bahama. During the exercise, CAPT LEROY safely transported personnel, equipment, and the recovery barge to the offshore site, with deployment completed in less than 10 minutes.

The vessel also supported the positioning of oil recovery equipment, demonstrating excellent maneuverability throughout the operation. The successful drill highlighted the professionalism of our crews and the importance of collaboration in protecting the marine environment and maintaining operational readiness.

Busy, productive, and insightful days at the International Tug & Salvage Community Convention, Exhibition & Awards 2026.

KOTUG is proudly present with OptiPort, showcasing smarter and more efficient port operations through next-level operational intelligence and data-driven insights.
At the same time, our experts are contributing to key industry discussions throughout the event:

📍 Patrick Everts together with HAMPIDJAN ADVANT presenting the SAFELINE Project — an innovative towing solution combining high-strength Dyneema with stretchable polyester technology.

📍 Patrick Everts also joining the panel session on pilot and tug integration, focused on operational readiness and safety.

📍Marcel van Meel together with our partners Robert Allan Ltd. presenting some details of the SD AISEMAHT project — the world’s first purpose-built dual-fuel methanol es**rt tug.

Innovation and maritime excellence in practice. Stay tuned — more to come from ITS 2026.

Maintaining a reliable connection between tug and tow is not optional. It’s critical.
In operations where dynamic environment, and equipment limitations are constantly at play, connection failure is not just a risk—it’s a serious safety concern.
Together with our partners, we have been working on a solution designed to address this challenge head-on: a connection system engineered for strength, flexibility, and reliability under all load conditions.
The result?
A hybrid towing solution that combines:
• controlled elongation
• fail-safe redundancy
• predictable behaviour under stress
This short film captures what that means in practice—real operations, real conditions, real performance.
Watch the video below and see how innovation translates into safer, more reliable towage.

With SD AISEMAHT, KOTUG is investing in the future of sustainable towage.

Designed as a next-generation es**rt tug, the vessel features dual-fuel propulsion, capable of operating on diesel and methanol — enabling significant CO₂ emissions reduction while maintaining high operational performance.

This innovative approach to cleaner and more efficient towage is what led to its nomination for Tug of the Year at the ITS 2026, a recognition that highlights projects setting new standards in sustainability and engineering excellence.

The voting is open until 14 May. Show your support to the projects shaping the future of marine operations: https://events.rivieramm.com/event/ITS26/tug-of-the-year-award-2026
