I didn't always know what I wanted to do. In fact I had no idea what I wanted to do until I was 28 years old.
No one grows up wanting to be an instructional designer, I promise you.
But after two Master's programs, many failed jobs, frustrating freelance projects, and failed small business ideas...I found Instructional Design!
But I still had to figure out how to manage my career, how to get better at what I do and how to make my dreams come true.
I had no idea where to start.
Then one day a friend invited me over for a journaling and vision board party. I was notoriously bad at keeping up with a journal, but this time was different.
I wrote down 10 things I wanted to change in the upcoming year and made a vision board.
Then I spent the next 365 days re-writing those 10 things every morning.
It was the habit of writing. The visual representation and recomittment to it every morning really helped me change my habits.
Since then, I've kept a journal or scrap book around so I could write down my ideas, my dreams, my hopes and whatever else pops into my head.
Then digital planning came into my world. And I had a digital way to track my progress.
And I wanted to share it with the new instructional designers I mentor, with my podcast audience, and with anyone else at the beginning of their career who is trying to answer the same questions I am trying to answer.
That's my why. That's why Inkling Planners exists.
I design digital planning and tracking tools for people who are bad at planning and tracking. And for people who want to change their trajectory.
