May 2026 - Start of a kayak season in the Aegean Sea 🌊

After a few days getting to know the island, I’m now settled in Milos and ready for the season ahead.

Over the next few months, I’ll be guiding sea kayak tours around the island, sharing its volcanic landscapes, sea caves, hidden beaches and crystal-clear waters with visitors from around the world.

Every coastline has its own character, and Milos is already proving to be a fascinating place to paddle. Between the geology, the history and the constantly changing colours of the sea, there is always something new to discover from the kayak.

April 2026 - Sea Kayak Award in Greece

This spring took me to Kalamata, Greece, where I completed the Sea Kayak Award certification. Beyond the assessment itself, it was an opportunity to spend time on the water with other paddlers, refine skills, exchange experiences and continue learning.

One of the things I love most about kayaking is that every environment teaches something different. The Arctic teaches respect and preparation. The Aegean teaches reading wind, swell and coastline in a completely different way.

Different waters, same lessons: stay curious, keep learning, and never stop exploring.

Another step forward on my journey as a sea kayak guide, and a great way to begin a new season in Greece.

April 2026 - Winter kayaking and snowshoeing in Lofoten Islands, Norway

The winter season in the Lofoten Islands is slowly coming to an end, and what a beautiful one it has been. 🇳🇴

Over the past months, I’ve had the chance to guide both snowshoe hikes in the mountains and sea kayaking trips along the coastline. 🚣‍♀️🏔️

From quiet snowy trails under soft winter light to paddling between fishing villages and sharp peaks rising straight from the sea, every day out there has been a reminder of how powerful this place is.

Some days brought calm waters and curious seabirds, others gave us wild Arctic weather, pink sunsets, and that magical blue winter light the north is famous for. Out on the water, you quickly realize that kayaking here is as much about reading the environment as it is about paddling. Learning to watch the sky, to read the wind on the water, to notice how the weather can change around the mountains… these are skills that grow day after day.

Living and working in the Arctic continues to feel like a dream, and I’m grateful for every adventure, every conversation, and every moment spent outdoors here. Sharing these adventures with people coming from all over the world has been incredibly rewarding.

December 2025 - Arctic campouts

As darkness settled over the frozen landscape, we learned how to live in the cold, not just survive it.

Around the fire, we shared warmth, stories, and small moments that felt almost unreal in such extreme conditions. Cooking over open flames, making caramel apples in the snow, watching sparks rise into the polar night… proof that even in one of the harshest environments, there is space for comfort.

But this training was also about preparation. We built snow shelters and emergency igloos, then slept inside them to understand a powerful lesson: while temperatures outside could fall below -30°C, inside the shelter, snow and smart construction could create a surprisingly stable refuge.

In the Arctic, survival often means changing the way you see your surroundings.
Snow is not just cold, it can be insulation.
Fire is not just warmth, it is safety.
Knowledge is not just useful, it is essential.

December 2025 - Ice rescue training.

Some lessons can’t be learned from a classroom.

This was cold water immersion and ice rescue training: jumping into an icy river, feeling the shock of freezing water, then learning how to stay calm, use ice picks, grip the edge, and pull myself back to safety.

Because in polar environments, knowing what to do if the ice breaks beneath you can make all the difference. And once you’re out… the next lesson begins: fire, movement, and warming the body before the cold goes deeper.

We’re building the skills, reflexes, and mindset needed to face Arctic conditions with respect and preparation.

December 2025 - Winter endurance and navigation

After a month of polar training with the Polarticka program, the real test began: an endurance and land navigation assessment deep in the Arctic winter.

For 23 kilometers, in temperatures dropping to -36°C, I carved my way through heavy powder snow on skis, pulling a pulka behind me across an endless white wilderness. No marked trails. No shortcuts. Just a map, a compass, and the challenge of finding my route through the polar night in a landscape where every direction looked the same.

Crossing that vast frozen silence, navigating through one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth… this is the kind of challenge that makes me feel truly alive.

December 2025 - Polar Guide training program

Training to become a polar guide with the Polarticka program in Swedish Lapland has been a true learning journey.

We set an Inuit-style fishing net beneath the ice, practiced rifle handling for polar bear safety, carved an ice pool and plunged into it, and even built our own igloos. We learned to navigate through snow and polar night with nothing but a map and a compass, tracing routes by headlamp and planning each journey with careful map preparation. Between long days on the land, we cooked simple meals over a campfire, sharing heat, stories, and responsibility as we learned the fundamentals of group management in winter conditions.

Every day here teaches resilience, teamwork, respect for Arctic traditions, and a deeper connection to the cold. Step by step, I’m becoming the guide I once only imagined.
