Blue Aurora in March? Let’s talk reality. ❄️💙

Last night’s 20/03/2026 G2 geomagnetic storm pushed solar energy deep into Earth’s atmosphere — strong enough to light up the Arctic sky beautifully… but not always in the way people expect.

Most auroras appear green (oxygen at ~100–300 km) and sometimes red (higher altitude oxygen).
The rare blue/purple tones come from nitrogen molecules, and here’s the catch:

👉 They need very specific conditions
👉 Lower altitude collisions + strong particle energy
👉 And usually high activity + dark, clear skies

So yes — a G2 storm can produce blue aurora…
but March makes it tricky.

Why?
• Increasing daylight reduces contrast
• Warmer atmosphere changes particle interactions slightly
• And most importantly: you still need perfect timing + sky clarity

📊 Translation:
Even during a storm alert, nothing is guaranteed.

That’s the part most people don’t understand —
aurora isn’t a “show”, it’s a natural reaction between solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field.
