Batteries have a habit of letting you down at the worst possible time. Right when you’re ready to hit the water and ruin your day.

We generally expect around 5 years from a battery before it starts getting on the older side, although they can last longer with the right care.

Correct charging profiles and storage voltages are extremely important. Get these wrong and you could be looking at less than 3 years of service.

A walkthrough of Williamthefisherman123 new boat.

We managed the entire fit-out from the engine installation right through to the complete electronics package, alongside the team at Auckland Outboard Workshop. While we work on larger vessels, trailer boats are a big part of what we do.

Customer concern: “Something’s rolling around behind the dash.”

No worries, we’ll sort it.

This was a fairly new boat, and with no real way to test the issue other than rocking the boat side to side, we confirmed there was definitely something loose.

From there, it was time to get to work. We removed the switch panel, reached up behind the dash, and undid the rear mount on the Simrad. Sure enough, there was the culprit, a loose bolt rolling around behind the dash, making a racket every time the boat moved at anchor.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

Time to bring this Riviera into the modern age.
