⚡ Apparently there were nearly 18,000 lightning strikes across the North Island yesterday, 756 in Auckland alone.

If you’re heading out on the water this weekend, it’s worth doing a quick check before you go — turn on your electronics and make sure everything’s working as it should.

You don’t need to be hit by lightning for it to have an effect. Electrical activity in the air and water can sometimes upset onboard systems.

A couple of minutes at the dock can save a few headaches later.

Keeping Auckland Boaties Safe: Waiheke Coastguard’s Rescue Vessel Refit
At HMB Marine Electrical, we love seeing our work make a real difference on the water , and few projects are more rewarding than helping those who keep our boating community safe.
Recently, we completed a full electrical refit for Waiheke Island Coastguard’s 10.3m rescue vessel. After a severe storm exposed weaknesses in the boat’s old system, our team rebuilt everything from the ground up, Starting with a full set of electrical drawings, everything was stripped out and replaced, a full rewire, modern switchboards, upgraded navigation and thermal imaging technology and much more, ensuring the vessel is safer, more reliable, and ready for any emergency.

Sea trials are now complete, and the vessel is officially back on the water and in action. In fact, we even spotted the crew on Saturday afternoon powering down the bottom end on a rescue ... the upgraded systems already proving their worth.
