Today we celebrate the International Day of Older Person

A time to celebrate the value of older people and acknowledge their contributions to our communities; in the work place, as volunteers, as caregivers and as whole people, with dreams, aspirations, wisdom and experience.

International Day of the Older Persons was observed for the first time in 1991 so has been running for over 30 years. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the issues affecting older persons. It also provides an opportunity to take steps to demonstrate respect. Older people are caretakers and custodians of traditions and so much knowledge and information are held within their experiences and memory.

Driving Miss Daisy Drivers are all Dementia Friends, providing a valuable service for people living with dementia by offering not just transportation, but also companionship, support, and a personalised approach to help them maintain their independence and quality of life. World Alzheimer's Month/ Day is about raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and the need for continued support throughout the progression of Alzheimer's and other dementias. 🌼 Come and See Us at the Transition Expo Tomorrow!

We’re excited to be attending the Transition Expo 2026 tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September, at the Auckland Netball Centre in St Johns.

This is a fantastic free event for young people with disabilities, their whānau, caregivers and those working within the disability community, with lots of information and resources available to help young people transition from school into the wider community, employment, education, recreation and beyond.

🌼 Driving Miss Daisy will have a stand at the Expo, and I’ll be there alongside some of our neighbouring Driving Miss Daisy franchisees.

Come over and say hello! We’ll have information about our companion driving and accessible transport services, including how we can support young people and their families with greater independence in the community. We’ll also have some prizes and goodies at our stand, so make sure you pop by and see us! 🎁

1 in 3 Kiwis will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetimes.

Each day 81 Kiwis hear the words, “You have cancer.” Daffodil Day is a chance to show your friends and family affected by cancer they’re not alone. Daffodil Day is about donating in order to protect future generations of New Zealanders by helping to fund world-leading cancer research and vital prevention programmes.
