Some jobs are big, some are complicated, and then there are jobs like Eparaima.

This incredible two-storey piece of New Zealand history has been standing for around 150 years and now the PBR crew has successfully pulled off one hell of an operation to move it 🙌🏻

Originally built in Castlepoint, Eparaima was farmed by George Moore, a Wellington merchant with interests in Hawke’s Bay and after 1885 it became one of the homes of the Moore family.

And this relocation was anything but straightforward 👀

Multiple weeks on site.
A massive two-storey structure.
Careful separation of the building.
Extensive temporary bracing.
Cranes.
Multiple loads.
Heavy machinery.
Tight working conditions.
Day shifts rolling into night shifts.
And a huge amount of planning, patience and teamwork.

Watching an entire upper storey suspended from a crane while another section sits loaded beneath it gives you some perspective on just how serious this operation was 😮‍💨

Every stage had to happen in the right sequence.

There is something pretty bloody special about taking a home that has already survived generations and giving it the opportunity to survive generations more.

We don’t just move houses. Sometimes, we move history 🏠❤️

This was old-school craftsmanship meeting modern heavy haulage and exactly the kind of challenging, technical relocation PBR lives for.

An absolutely massive effort from everyone involved in getting this one done. Multiple weeks of hard graft, problem-solving and some seriously impressive work on site.

SOME SITES REQUIRE A LITTLE MORE THAN JUST A TRUCK… 🏗️🔥

This was one seriously impressive relocation 🙌🏻

With a steep section, challenging access and no way to simply just roll the house into its final position, this job called for all hands on deck and something a little bigger…

A crane. A very big crane. 😏

After transporting the house to site, our PBR crew worked alongside the crane team at Universal Cranes to carefully rig and lift the home completely off our transporter, through the air and across the site, before lowering it into its new position.

Seeing an entire HOUSE hanging in the air above the native bush is something pretty bloody impressive. 👏🏻

Complex relocations like this take serious planning, coordination, specialist equipment and an experienced crew but finding a way to tackle the difficult ones is exactly what we do!
