Did you know that workplaces that have quiz nights together are 100% more likely to be cooler workplaces than those that don't? FACT.

You can rest assured that our staff's brains are fighting fit, with an awesome display of knowledge on the night. Congratulations to our winning teams, pictured but not named (they can't handle the fame).

Congratulations to our Driver of the Month for August, Nigel Tew.
Nigel can normally be found behind the wheel of a Mack 8x4 mixer for Allied Concrete Ashburton.

One of Nigel's many strengths is the way he interacts with customers, with his friendly outlook on work and life in general. Nigel happily shows new drivers around the "ins and outs" of driving a concrete truck and is an advocate for a safe working environment. Nigel is certainly someone you want on your team.
Nigel is a prime example of the qualities we look for in the recipients of the Driver of the Month award, and we thank him for all his hard work.

A big shout-out to Truckstops for the Mack prize and for the ongoing support of our great people.

Nigel (left) is being presented with his prize by Stuart Williams (Driver Trainer, Central Southern).

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the HWR stand at CareerFest 2026!

The truck simulator was working overtime as students lined up to have a go behind the wheel. The event welcomed more than 2000 students during the day - awesome to see so much interest from the next generation.

The evening session was a great opportunity to connect with those thinking about a change in career path. If you missed us and you think we might be a good fit for you get in touch with us or visit our website to see our current vacancies. https://hwrcareers.co.nz/Vacancies/

Meet One Direction. No, not the famous boy band that you all secretly jam in your trucks.

This truck got its name when TSL got back into contracting with diggers and needed a tractor unit to move them around. Having their own transporter was the logical next step.

There was only one direction for the business to grow, so One Direction was born.

Well done Sam McCully for completing the New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Road Transport) Level 4 through MITO. 👏

It's great to see the next generation of skilled tradespeople thriving in our industry.

Sam McCully is making Mobile Transport Repairs in Invercargill proud!

Congratulations to Sam for completing the New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering—Road Transport (Level 4). Your dedication has paid off—well done! 🎉

Sam completed MITO's StartUp Ignition – Automotive Micro-credential while he was a student at Southland Boys' High School, and it’s great to see that early commitment leading him to this milestone.

There’s a smaller addition getting around Invercargill, with the team at Allied Concrete putting a mini mixer to good use across town.

Around half the size of a standard mixer and carrying approximately 3 m3 of concrete, the truck was brought down from the Alexandra plant to help one of the Invercargill team train for their Class 2 driver licence.

Since arriving, it has also proven ideal for smaller jobs and tight-access sites, including kerbing, footpaths and driveway accesses.

Mini but mighty 💪
