💡 🌊The Nelson Lighthouse proudly stands tall on the Boulder Bank, a beacon of history and maritime heritage. 🌟 Once guiding ships with its radiant light out to sea, it now shines back at Nelson by night, as a symbol of the significant role it used to play. Decommissioned in 1982, at which time it was the longest-operating lighthouse in the country, the light was switched back on in 2012 as part of a four-year restoration project. Want to know more? 🌊 Nelson Harbour is home to incredible wildlife, and the best way to see them is with us at sea! Although rare, you may catch a glimpse of little blue penguins, dolphins and even orca. Seals often sun themselves in the harbour too. Ashore on the Boulder Bank, you'll find the black Oyster Catcher, and in the breeding season the Red-billed Gull, the second largest colony living in Aotearoa. 🦭🐋🐬
