Milo and Kim started Gourmet Sailing in 2007 with the goal of helping people make wonderful memories. They have enjoyed exceeding expectations, and made many fantastic friends over the past 16 years from all walks of life. Ruby Needham came on board as Manager/ Concierge on her return to NZ after crewing on super yachts across the oceans.

A few years ago Ruby and Milo co-founded Skipper Training NZ. With the significant growth of the school, Ruby's growing family and a time of relative dormancy from covid travel restrictions, Gourmet Sailing needed some new energy.

When our lead skipper Andy Swanson expressed an interest in taking it over with his wife Michelle, we knew the business would be in great hands. During this transition phase, and into the future Milo will be helping out as a relief skipper too.

Thank you to all those who have made memories with us sailing in the Abel Tasman National Park and Marlborough Sounds. We know Andy and Michelle are going to continue the legacy of Gourmet Sailing and we are really excited for what’s to come.

Here are our Best walks in the Abel Tasman National Park!

1) Mārahau to Anchorage.
This trail offers a perfect blend of coastal views, native bush, and beautiful beaches. The walk is relatively easy, making it suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and takes around 3 and half hours to complete. Just be sure to check the tides before you go, as some sections may be impassable at high tide.

2) Torrent Bay To Onetahuti Beach.
The trail to Onetahunti bay will take you along the coastline through the forest, where you will be crossing several suspension bridges, passing through lush coastal forests, and experiencing the golden sand and crystal-clear waters of Onetahuti Beach. Overall this track should take you 2-3 hours to complete, oh and be sure to keep an eye out for the resident wildlife too!

3) Pitt Head Loop Track
If you're looking for something a little smaller, the Pitt Head Loop Track has got you covered. This is a shorter walk that can be completed in about 30 minutes to an hour, making it a great option if you have limited time but still want to experience the national park. This walk is also a relatively easy walk, making it suitable for a quick nature fix or a leisurely afternoon stroll.

An amazing place to visit

A short distance before Takaka is an easy one-hour return walk through lush native bush to Wainui Falls, one of the largest, most accessible and undoubtedly most beautiful waterfalls in Golden Bay. Shaded by nikau palms, you’ll follow the path of the Wainui River until you reach the falls, thundering 20m into the deep blue pools below. If you find solace in the great outdoors, a walk like this is guaranteed to be good for the soul, and the perfect way to finish it all off is with Golden Bay Kayaks on nearby Tata Beach.
