The next steps to make rail in the Bay possible! ⭐🚆⭐

We've heard you loud and clear that trains in the Bay of Plenty should come back. This is what we've been working on behind the scenes to make these train trips more than just a one off service.

✅ Formally requested Bay of Plenty Regional Transport Committee invest in a feasibility study for both inter-regional in the upcoming Long Term Plan and Regional Spatial plan (Auckland - Waikato - Bay of Plenty) and metro rail with Tauranga (Omokoroa through to the C*D to the Mount, Papamoa and Te Puke).
✅ Meeting with transport spokespeople from major parties and local MPs to help secure funding for this study and ongoing commitments for rail
✅ Protect the rail corridor and future station sites.
✅ Work with Waikato Regional Council to explore options for Te Huia to come to Tauranga for events like the Cricket and Tauranga Arts Festival
✅ And when the new government is formed, you can bet that we'll be meeting with them to get this on the agenda too, along with electrification of the golden triangle and continuation of Te Huia.

Another sold out Auckland-Hamilton-Tauranga train trip, 600 happy passengers! 🚆

Thanks to Glenbrook Vintage Railway for another great trip and showing what's possible - imagine one of these every weekend! Or every day!

They also did a trip out to Omokoroa and back, only 8 minutes from the C*D and back - it gets you excited for Tauranga to have metro rail as well.
Omokoroa, to the city and out to the Mount and Te Puke, how great would that be!

𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 stepping off a train at Blake Park and walking straight into the heart of Bay sports and events.

A regional passenger rail service connecting Ōmokoroa in the north with Te Puke in the south could transform access to Mount Maunganui’s premier sporting precinct.

Fans and players alike could travel comfortably to:

• Cricket matches and concerts at Bay Oval
• Rugby games and community events
• Netball tournaments
• Hockey competitions
• Squash matches
• Skate park sessions
• Activities at the local sport and recreation club

Instead of traffic congestion and packed car parks, people could arrive by train from across the Western Bay of Plenty — students, families, sports teams, tourists, and event crowds alike.

On major event days, trains could become part of the atmosphere:

Supporters travelling together
Easier movement between communities
Safer transport after concerts and evening events
Reduced pressure on Mount Maunganui roads

A station near Blake Park could become more than just a transport stop — it could be a gateway to sport, recreation, and community connection for the entire region.
