On Sunday morning, May 3rd at around 9:35am, a couple of young guys ran a red light and took out Remy the Renault (our shuttle), with Euan inside, just after dropping off the last of the morning’s passengers. Thankfully there were only minor human injuries, but sadly Remy’s injuries proved fatal, and the van has now been written off by the insurers.
Even though we were not at fault, the huge challenges that come with suddenly losing the heart of a small transport business are immense.
What we are incredibly proud of is that every booked passenger has still been transported without interruption. We’ve worked around the clock behind the scenes to keep things moving, and we have plans already underway for the future.
To everyone who has supported us, checked in, shared kind words, or continued booking with us - thank you. Running a young local business is never straightforward, but moments like this remind us how amazing our community really is. Insurance is all very well and good until you make a claim, but that’s a story for another day.
This week we mark one year offering an alternative transport option to Christchurch from Timaru and points in between. Subtle Shuttles is still here, still running daily, and we’re not going anywhere, except to Christchurch return once a day. With your continued support, it could be twice ❤️
