Attention Canterbury Westcoast Branch Members, another event for you 🙂

Come along to meet with industry peers and learn about the SH76 Brougham Street Upgrade and the new Level Crossing Risk Management Guide.

NZTA Waka Kotahi will provide an update on the SH76 Brougham Street Upgrade, outlining progress to date and the key features of this major transport improvement project. The presentation will cover the recently installed pedestrian and cycle bridge, upcoming corridor improvements, and how the project is enhancing safety, connectivity, and travel efficiency for all road users.
Eddie Cook from KiwiRail will present the new Level Crossing Risk Management Guide. He will cover the significant updates to the guide including; a consistent, industry-wide framework for assessing and managing level crossing risk; the application of the So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP) framework and best practice approaches for improving safety through collaboration between road and rail stakeholders.

Transforming Streets for People – Public Talk 🚦

Join us for an inspiring public talk with Professor Marco te Brömmelstroet, exploring how we can reshape our streets to prioritise people and liveability over efficiency. This thought‑provoking session will challenge conventional transport thinking and highlight the changes needed to support a more people‑focused mobility future.

‘Transport Successes’ & Canterbury Branch AGM
The Transportation Group is pleased to present this upcoming national event with speakers Glenn Lyons (CIHT president, Professor of Future Mobility at UWE Bristol, Mott MacDonald) and Tim Cheeseborough (Senior Transport Planner, Christchurch City Council).

Glenn will speak about successful applications of adopting a ‘Decide and Provide’ transport planning approach and Triple Access Planning.
Tim will speak to the success of Christchurch’s post-earthquake ‘An Accessible City – Christchurch Central City Recovery Plan’ transport planning, noteworthy transport outcomes, and the lessons from the journey – which was not straightforward!
This event will aim to sharing inspiring examples of long-term transport planning approaches and remind us of the successes we’ve had so far.

Canterbury branch - Annual Quiz Night
The theme for this year's annual Quiz Night is "Humans, Nature, and Human nature". We welcome all Transportation Group members and colleagues, in teams of up to six or arrive as you are and we'll help you find a team. A variety of food will be served so most dietary needs should be met but, please let us know if you have particular needs. We look forward to seeing you there!
